This is even worse than I thought....Kuzmenko was run out of Vancouver for not performing, and now out of Calgary. He earns more than Farabee, and Torts will bench him and tear him down to nothing.

Danny got completely schooled on this trade. Absolute garbage of a return.

- TheFreak

Wow, you don't have a clue. Kuzmenko was a salary dump to even the cap exchange. Kuzmenko will play this season and then will be off the books next season. He is a dog that had one good year, got his money, and will probably go back to Russia next year.

So think of this trade as Frost for Pelletier - two former 1st round picks that never put it together in the NHL and needed a change of scenery, and Farabee for a 2nd round pick.

Are we positive Kuzmenko won’t be here after this season? What if coGM is looking to extend?

I guess this trade will settle one huge issue for us on this board:

If Frost and/or Farabee reach the potential many have thought they have WITH A DIFFERENT COACH…

- mikeyo27

Good point, but couldn't that different coach be here in Philly?

Seems this organization is giving up on the wrong people.

Pelletier has 21 points in his entire nhl career. Your comparison here to Frost is more bias from you.

Brink is playing too well and fans are coming to see Michkov. DB needed to find some new guys for Torts to bench.
- Dkos

Gmdb should just permanently bench torts.

I’ve had a night to sleep on it….lol.

The good:
moved out salary cap space.
Moved two pieces that never have found consistency in their game and have regressed/plateaued under Torts.
The return is not something they are tied too. A soon to be 29 year old W and another tiny winger which seems to be DB’s man crush type of player.

The bad:
Traded the most talented/offensive C in the organization, whom the failed to develop.
Traded a heart and soul type guy who never has reached his peek.I honestly thought there was a lot more to Farabee.
The return is awful. I can’t spin any other way than a salary dump. I’m sure all the fan boys of DB will tout this as some big win…but to me it’s another poor return. I guess DB couldn’t take on another hideous contract to save face in a return.
They actually got smaller and a bit older…lol. Nothing screams rebuild like that.

I guess in the end this is the first sign to me that our GM is willing to tear it down more than I thought he would. I’m somewhat surprised that two guys that are so culturally sound got such a piss poor return.

Pelletier is an AHL/NHL tweener. This trade is a salary dump.

Think a smaller version of Ryan Poehling who plays wing.

That’s how I read it. Likely a throw in to balance rosters or for us to send him to the a. He was on waivers earlier this year and no one took him. That tells you everything

I do not get the logic of benching a player for half of a game for a simple defensive zone coverage error. Especially when it is a back 2 back, 3rd in 4 nights and you are trailing 2-0. He even stood up to Torts which is apparently what Torts gets off on.

Trading Frost for a player like Pelletier is very on brand for the Flyers. Farabee as basically a salary dump is very questionable in my opinion. I assume a center acquisition is in the works.

I get it. I’m underwhelmed too. It seems like a pure salary dump and that’s why we weren’t able to get much.

Farabee seemed to be coming around. I thought this year may have been a break out type season after such a good start last year. Disappointing start to this season.

I am a fan of Frost but the Devils game he wilted, just didn’t want to play a hard game or play the way you needed to win in vs good team, in big games. He still has time and this was what he needed, new chance.

Farabee plays hard, more disappointed he was moved at the low end of his value.

Both can still grow, they are still young.

Yea, this is a tank move, so the value is the value is, this board should be happy about that.

Wish we got more back for Bee and Frost, but what the hell does anyone expect? Bee has a $5-million cap hit and isn't producing, and Frost has not become the consistent 2C we hoped he'd be. He's still the guy that takes too long to get going, and has had too many healthy scratches in the past couple of years. Glad we are moving on and look to be stripping it down a bit. If Rsito and Laughton are traded as well, we are in more of a rebuild than I thought we'd be this season.

Same could be said about Frost. Flyers have been floating him as a trade piece for years, and this is all they got for him. Other teams don't seem to think he's that good, or they would have thrown together a better trade than what DB accepted.

Anyone think Torts isn't running the show at the NHL level?

Wonder what Meltzer thinks?

Can't wait to hear the Jackson/Boucher what a great trade this was spin.

Spot on here! I'm fine with moving Frost since he will never excel under a coach like Torts. I've always been a big Farabee fan so not a fan of that part of the trade. Hard ot believe we got smaller and a bit older. Flyers wilted against the Devils and Rags lately when the games got physical. I wish the best for both of them and hope they do well with a new seting/coach.

It does look like we’re stripping the team down. I expect a boat load more to be sent out between now and end of season. I think we can reasonably sink to bottom 7 in the league. Maybe bottom 5.

Very true. The Flyers moved on from these two players at pretty much their lowest value point. Both players needed a fresh start, and for the Flyers let the tank begin! The Flyers save some cap space for this year and next, and get another 2nd round pick. Exactly what a rebuilding team does.

Holy crap is this trade as bad as it looks? A 29 yr old player who is a UFA at year's end and a 23 year old small player on an expiring contract who could've been had for free off of waivers earlier this year and a 2nd for 2 roster players in Torts doghouse?
