Same could be said about Frost. Flyers have been floating him as a trade piece for years, and this is all they got for him. Other teams don't seem to think he's that good, or they would have thrown together a better trade than what DB accepted.
- dramado

Frost has proven to at least play decent, but inconsistent, minutes at the NHL level. I’m not overly surprised at the return, but I also think it’s fair to point out that the return is not good.
You can make that argument for any deal….that the best deal a GM got was the one he just made.
But they got a guy who was just on waivers. They got a disgruntled Russian who has now worn out his welcome in two NHL organizations in 3 years. Oh ya they got a 2nd rnd 25 pick to go with their other 3.
Obviously it’s a move that rebuilding teams make….but those teams also move guys like Risto, Laughton and Seeler. We’ll see if DB has more shoes to fall.

Holy crap is this trade as bad as it looks? A 29 yr old player who is a UFA at year's end and a 23 year old on an expiring contract who could've been had for free off of waivers earlier this year and a 2nd for 2 roster players in Torts doghouse?

Thinking the Flyers are not worried that they’re a tad older or smaller. IMO, these two players are not in their plans for the future. Moving Bee’s term and the 2nd rounder seemed to be the focus.

Seeler has a NTC this year and next year.
What is Laughton worth, really?
I think Hathaway would be tradable if he had less years on his contract and the same for RR.

Plus, you may want to dump them but the other team would have to accept them. Calgary is battling for a playoff spot and didn't want trash.

This is even worse than I thought....Kuzmenko was run out of Vancouver for not performing, and now out of Calgary. He earns more than Farabee, and Torts will bench him and tear him down to nothing.

Danny got completely schooled on this trade. Absolute garbage of a return.

- TheFreak

I dont think Kuz matters. I dont believe he is a piece the Flyers want. Wont be a fan if im wrong and they re-sign. Hoping he was a dump or will be flipped at the deadline. Either way doesnt change the fact the trade is quite disappointing

You seriously think this is a rebuilding move?

Of course he does -- why would the triumvirate lie to its fans?

Chuck Fletcher - "Trades are hard"
DB - “If we force something, after 2 weeks, we can’t press undo and start from scratch again, so we gotta be sure.”

The Flyers want to be buyers. That new car smell from the "new era of orange" has gone stale. Attendance is down and they need room on the credit card to buy new shiny things.

The Flyers traded 2 young players in Torts doghouse, shocker. Meanwhile the old culture guys, Seeler, Risto, The Room are still here.

They weren't having the best years but maybe that's not all on the players. Torts and "Flyers hockey" aren't going anywhere, might as well go all in. Michkov better go block a puck with his face or he's next.

I want the Flyers to get a better draft pick but i want it to look like the FO knows what they are doing if it happens rather than accidental.

If the Flyers need cap space, then stop extending 4th liners/3rd pair players to long term contracts/NTC and buying out players because the 66 yr old coach doesn't like them. It's seems dumping 23/24 yr old kids (who we are always told need time to develop) for a sack of beans while retaining "The Culture" is counterproductive.

Also, hasn't there been extensive discussion about how bad this draft is to the point that the Flyers 1sts in the latter half of the 1st round are not that valuable in relation to what the Flyers need? So an additional 2nd moves the needle? No.

The Flyers continue to stockpile picks in a mediocre draft as fast as teams can give them away. The Flyers have always been about quantity over quality. They will become the first team to field a full lineup of grinders who play the right way (because "The Right Way" is unique to the Flyers).

What did Meltzer say on Twitter?

Pelletier has 21 points in his entire nhl career. Your comparison here to Frost is more bias from you.
- StepfordSam

Entire career is a bit much. Hes got just 61 game under his belt in his career and never played 25 games in 1 season. There is potential there

In Frosts first 77 games of his career he had 23 points. Difference would be Frost was 22 at that time.

I’ve had a night to sleep on it….lol.

The good:
moved out salary cap space.
Moved two pieces that never have found consistency in their game and have regressed/plateaued under Torts.
The return is not something they are tied too. A soon to be 29 year old W and another tiny winger which seems to be DB’s man crush type of player.

The bad:
Traded the most talented/offensive C in the organization, whom the failed to develop.
Traded a heart and soul type guy who never has reached his peek.I honestly thought there was a lot more to Farabee.
The return is awful. I can’t spin any other way than a salary dump. I’m sure all the fan boys of DB will tout this as some big win…but to me it’s another poor return. I guess DB couldn’t take on another hideous contract to save face in a return.
They actually got smaller and a bit older…lol. Nothing screams rebuild like that.

I guess in the end this is the first sign to me that our GM is willing to tear it down more than I thought he would. I’m somewhat surprised that two guys that are so culturally sound got such a piss poor return.

just be thankful DB didn’t give up any 1st round picks to get the deal done.
