Chytil was a ticking time bomb. Our record with first round picks suck! I love the trade even if I still hate Drury. But got to say it - Good job Drury! |

The only forwards in our top 9 under the age of 31 are cuylle, laf, and kaliyev now. Hopefully Othmann makes it and I’m sure Perreault will. But we’ve got to get younger forwards, especially down the middle. That will require Mika to be gone somehow - picklerick you so smart

The lines could get interesting, but now our worst +/- player becomes our 3rd line center which is usually a line that’s relied on to be a defensive line.
Cuylle Miller Laf
Panarin Trocheck Smith
Kreider Zib Kaliyev/Jbrod
Could help Laf also who’s been struggling |

Will be interested to see how the lines shape out. Zib SHOULD get third line minutes, but we’ll see… |

Perrault Othmann Emory all seem like decent prospects. Tough to have good luck drafting in the first round when you trade your first round picks. |

My initial reaction to this deal was eh let’s see how it plays out. We get the best player in the deal in Miller and he instantly makes us a harder team to play against. I love chytil and I personally believe he is the most talented forward we have behind Panarin. But we need to be honest with ourselves. He can never stay healthy and whenever he is any type of contact and he falls to the ice we all collectively hold our breath in hopes he gets up and skates to the bench and stays on the bench. How many concussions or “upper body injuries” is he going to get. I hope he stays healthy and flourishes because he’s got the tools for sure. Mancini I like his game and has a ton of potential but we have Emery & Fortescue down the pipeline. The protected 1st rounder bothers me. I hate trading 1st rounders just in general. All In all I am not going to say wtf Drury nor am I going to say hang the banner now. I want Miller to come here and play his game and that will be enough because his game has grown leaps and bounds since he was here. We are getting a very talented power forward.
Still doesn’t take away that our f*cking defense is still in shambles and we need plenty help in that area.
Oh yea one last thing. I wonder what Mika thinks about this trade. He instantly becomes 3C and deservingly so. - Awolff9

Yeah but when we sign other first round picks we always give them too much money anyway.
Someone said it but that Miller move would of been nice last year for sure. This year is just a bit of a rollercoaster. |

I prefer to balance the lines rather than load up on 1 line.
Cuylle and Trocheck could be interesting together also, but feel like another physical player with them would be better than a random like Smith. |

Couple of things that interest me:
- Miller is really strong on faceoffs, so we get even stronger there.
- Zib as a 3c, possibly reunited with Kreider. Could be a good way to simplify the game for Zib. Give him a final chance to reset.
- Every trade Drury has made lately has been with teams out west. Ducks, Kraken, Nucks, Sharks…
- Miller provides cost certainty at a good time to have it
I originally said yes to Chytil for Miller, then I wavered and said no…now I’m kind of back on the yes train. I like Miller and the way he plays. Age is an “issue” but idk that I care about that right now. Didn’t think a full rebuild was the move, but rather a retool could do it. This is squarely a retool type move. |

It’s exactly why Drury did the trade protection on the draft pick. He intends to retool over the summer and go for it next year, why he is ok having the pick unprotected in 2026 |

Draft Pick Summary
Round 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
2025 0 0 1 1 1 2 1
2026 1 0 1 0 1 1 1
2027 1 0 1 0 1 1 1
I really hope Drury has a plan. I believe he does. But this will hurt if that plan sucks.
