Cuylle and Trocheck could be a real pita to face in a series. And they have a bond if you remember, Cuylle stayed with the Trocheck family last year.

Panarin and Laf need room on the ice and Miller may be able to provide that.

Cuylle Miller Laf
Panarin Trocheck Kaliyev
Kreider Zib Smith
Edstrom Carrick Rempe

That’s how I’d start and see how it goes.

Maybe they peak at the right time. They need get in the playoffs tho

To me teams have figured out how to defend the BLT line, and Miller should center Panarin and Laf now. Trocheck I love the guy, but I’m not sure he’s a 1C and maybe why his numbers are down too.

- Slimtj100

For sure, they have the ability, just need to execute. Especially on special teams.

Breadman should def be one of JT's wings.... esp as he seems to want to pass a great deal and JT has a very underrated and effective shot... I have a feeling Kreids will be the other side which is fine. JT can utilize him for deflections and make him more effective with his wheels.

JT adds a player Rangers don't have currently and that is always a good thing. A high end nasty tough C.

Having a 3rd line of Kreider Zib Smith and telling them just concentrate on being a shutdown line come playoff time could be huge. Things could get fun around here.

Plus they will get better matchups in game. A big reason why the kid line worked so well they took advantage of matching up against other teams 3rd lines

I’d be surprised if Miller isn’t the next captain of the rangers, at some point. Maybe not this year, but definitely by opening night next season.

Exactly. Also why I think they traded Kakko and Chytil, because of the inconsistency and injury proneness. It’s just hard to count on them in the playoffs. It’s a shame it didn’t work out with those two but it was time to move on for bigger and better and yes, older things.

Yea Zibby could be better. What ever will you go on and on about after that happens
- Slimtj100

No you said Drury made Zib better, I just asked how he did that.

Don’t mistake this. Yes, I’m on board. No this isn’t a Buch/Kane etc deal that I’ll hate forever, it’s just the timing of it/the way this season has gone that makes me hesitant.

Telling a -50 player to be shutdown is tough.

Figure it out:

He trades for a 1C

Moves the current 1C to 3C

That new 3C gets easier matchups every game

Ah yes, rocket science!!

I think this trade is less about this year and more about the next few years. They’ll still be good no matter what. This year could blow up still, it’s possible. But in 94 the year before was a lot like this year. Next year they reevaluate it all and move forward with new youth like Perrault, and hopefully othmann, Berard, Sykora, Kaliyev etc kind of guys

This trade reminds me a lot of the messier trade where there is a new sheriff in the room, an alpha male, for a group who ultimately needs it

So were gonna wait til Miller and Zib are 34/35 to "reap the benefits" of this trade? Because thats how age and hockey/pro sports work right?

I don’t understand you…for years you wanted Chytil traded did you not? Now he’s gone and you don’t like it.

This place gives me grey hair, and divirticulitis

Who’s got better group of centers than us. Devils have 2. Washington has 2. Canes have 1 and a half. That’s our 3 main rivals at the moment

I can’t wait for the “Zib is overpaid for a 3c” comments that will be made regardless if he’s playing well and the team has success.

Yesterday @ 9:13 PM ET

Im the biggest Chytil hater on this board, and even I, the guy who has spent the last 4 years talking about as much crap as possible about Chytil doesnt think this was the right time for this move.

I already addressed this.

If you’re somebody who wanted to strip down and do a full rebuild and bring in new 18 year olds to NYC that will eventually fail then I can see how you are very unhappy today
