The last thing we need is another small, puck moving defenseman.

Ding ding ding ….. a 25 year old at that that hasn’t been able to establish himself in the NHL.

I don’t think anyone glosses over Carrick. I think everyone has been extremely happy with that signing

People are acting like the trade was Miller for Chytil a 1st and Mancini. Brannstrom should have value, and could increase it even more. With Hughes there he really had no role. Could be the same situation here though with Fox.

Regarding his stats, any defenseman who could put up 100 points in the AHL has loads of potential, doubt that happens very often. The AHL isn’t a young guys league as much as it should be.

I’d have a look at a Brannstrom - Fox pair. Play keep away

Right because the last bunch of cup winners had their defense playing keep away.

Seems like salary cap news came out about the increase the rangers gave in on retention but got the pick protected. The players may have been agreed on for awhile. Fil was in all of them seemed like

Im the biggest Chytil hater on this board, and even I, the guy who has spent the last 4 years talking about as much crap as possible about Chytil doesnt think this was the right time for this move.

Idk. Idc. You guys want a replacement for Lindgren all day long
I’m not a fan of small D either. But there is a reason they got Brannstrom in the deal

We have two pairs over 6 ft and heavier, its not that big of an issue

My initial reaction to this deal was eh let’s see how it plays out. We get the best player in the deal in Miller and he instantly makes us a harder team to play against. I love chytil and I personally believe he is the most talented forward we have behind Panarin. But we need to be honest with ourselves. He can never stay healthy and whenever he is any type of contact and he falls to the ice we all collectively hold our breath in hopes he gets up and skates to the bench and stays on the bench. How many concussions or “upper body injuries” is he going to get. I hope he stays healthy and flourishes because he’s got the tools for sure. Mancini I like his game and has a ton of potential but we have Emery & Fortescue down the pipeline. The protected 1st rounder bothers me. I hate trading 1st rounders just in general. All In all I am not going to say wtf Drury nor am I going to say hang the banner now. I want Miller to come here and play his game and that will be enough because his game has grown leaps and bounds since he was here. We are getting a very talented power forward.

Still doesn’t take away that our f*cking defense is still in shambles and we need plenty help in that area.

Oh yea one last thing. I wonder what Mika thinks about this trade. He instantly becomes 3C and deservingly so.

The only forwards in our top 9 under the age of 31 are cuylle, laf, and kaliyev now. Hopefully Othmann makes it and I’m sure Perreault will. But we’ve got to get younger forwards, especially down the middle. That will require Mika to be gone somehow
