Briere says Kuzmenko was a guy that they were at least going to take a look at in free agency this summer. This gives them an opportunity to look at him in person to see if he fits.

- StepfordSam

Love it. Hope he gets that new team uptick in production with an ext to follow. A rebuilding team def wants to see if a 29 year old fits.

Briere says that players like Tippett, Foerster, Brink, Cates have all taken steps forwards in their development the past few years. Basically implies that Farabee and Frost hadn't.

- StepfordSam

I have no issue with Frost, He hasnt shown enough. Hes sort of been stuck in the same spot as last year and the year before. You see flashes here and there but not enough consistency. I was 100% OK moving on from him.

Farabee I would have liked to give a little more time to. He seemed like he was going to break out last season, this year has been disappointing. Maybe he is a bust and he will never be more than a 50 point guy but I dont know, I still think maybe there is still something there.

Apparently he was added because Conroy wanted to dump him and he played with Michkov. Kuz is a guy who seems to play best immediately on a new team. Had a great season with Vancouver as a rookie, Sophmore was awful, got traded, immediately was almost a PPG player for the flames and then much like VAN, the next year he was poop.

So we can probably expect high production from him for the rest of the season. The Flyers should take advantage of that and flip him at the deadline or let him walk if hes here for Michkov. I dont really want him resigned. I guess there can be a Scenario where Id find it acceptable as a 3rd line option and a much lower cap hit but we are talking a scenario where the team is absolutely gutted. I dont think the Flyers are trending that way.

Flyers appear to be moving guys that dont seem to play the way Torts wants them too. The Flyers are trying to play a counter type system where they force turnovers with defense and counter attack, I believe this is largly due to the lack of elite talent. They cant beat other teams skill vs skill

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

What a BS line they are selling with that one. All it takes is a quick google search to see it is BS.

What top offensive players will want to come here to play the Torts way? Less an overpay of course.

I have no issue at all moving on from either player but it is awfully funny the reaction from certain fans. As if Farabee and Frost couldn’t play a lick of hockey.

Meanwhile nary a word about Poehling, Hathaway, Laughton, Risto, Seeler, etc. yet the Flyers brass overvalues these guys like crazy and wouldn’t settle for less than an overpay.

Do the Flyers ever sell high in recent memory? Flyers always day late dollar short.

Could careless how they do in Calgary. My guess both will be more productive there than here.

Provorov?

Netted a pair of 1st rounders, and pair of seconds.

That was a solid deal. Wasn't selling high at all. Odd you leave out the cap dumps as part of the trade.

He also asked to be traded.

Correct as it is all about the return not the players.

Many are missing the point. Flyers settle for an underpay (and it was) on players like Frost and Farabee but others that also don’t fit the timeline that really can’t play hockey it would take a huge overpay for them to move on from. Once again Flyers valuing the wrong things.

Good enough to bring back a great return.

Your complaint is that the Flyers are "always a day late and a dollar short". I'm just pointing out that your statement is a slight exaggeration.

It's understandable to be frustrated at the way they have conducted business during the last several years. But to decide that we could've/should've gotten a better return without being privy to the offers made by other teams, I'd say is overreaching.

Going to be fun when Deslauriers, Michkov, and Kuzmenko are in the lineup on a back to back. Torts gets mad at the Russians for doing something wrong and not taking responsibility. Funny the HC never takes responsibilty for the failing PP for 3 yrs now. Have 3 forwards stapled to the bench in the 3rd in the name of "culture".

It wasn't a great return. It was good return. Can argue should have got more for taking on Cals contract.

Not a slight exaggeration at all.

Not overreaching. Both should have been moved before their value tanked. Do you disagree?

Torts is not a very good coach, is he? Answer: NO

How fun would it be to watch MM39 and Kuz just go all KHL offense and disregard his instructions. Hahaha

Very predictable. Coming off back to back shutouts. Team catching some heat for the recent trade, as it signals to some that they’re finally punting on this season. Gotta give the paying customers a show by letting ND out of his cage to thump a few skulls

Peterson's contract was a non-issue. It was cap space the Flyers could absorb at the time.

I sure both could have been moved earlier and perhaps could have gathered a better return. Perhaps not. Nobody knows that except DB.

Maybe DB felt it was prudent to give Joel another year to see if he figured it all out rather than move him after he had his best year statistically.

Sure, even if you'd get a decent return for a 24 year old coming off an up year, scoring 22 goals and 50 points, why would you consider moving him? Just to acquire another draft pick? Another young unproven player? How would that improve your team? But if that 24 year old is now 25 and regressing while carrying a 5 mil cap hit, maybe then it's time.

You can't trade every player while they're at their peak. Except if you're the Marlins or the Athletics.

Do you think it is safe to say after last season Danny saw Farabee as part of the core moving forward?

Granlund and Ceci to DAL for a 1st and 4th.

If Granlund is worth a 1st then a 2nd for Farabee and Frost is not as unreasonable as we thought

Its funny because people complain here that the Flyers dont have cap space to weaponize for picks but when they do weaponise it for picks it bad. Provy trade by Briere was fantastic. Not only did they weaponise cap space and sold a player getting a lot of assets but they flipped one of those assets for a 1st.

They ended up with what? Two 1sts Two 2nds and Grans overall?

No. I can't say what Danny thought.

I could only assume he had hoped that was the case.

So just so I understand it right, you are in full sell mode, right? Get the best picks possible?

Kinda like a tanking, but just artful maneuvering on Briere's behalf? Just curious as to what direction you are going in today.

First, i feel this site's advertising is run by IOI and we're at 79% of our visual field.

Second, i feel that the thing about Michkov that frustrates Torts the most is that there is no obvious city where he can capriciously make Michkov a healthy scratch knowing full well that Michkov had acquired 30+ tickets for friends and family.
