Torts didn't want Frost/Farabee around anymore.
The act of cutting those guys loose was the goal.
Maximizing the return was not.
It's really just as simple as that. - Tomahawk
Agree. The star on the Flyers is Torts. The Flyers have committed and hitched their wagon to Torts. Unfortunately he's going to be influencing and ruining this franchise for at least a decade if not longer. What a joke. |

Kuzy was cooked and probably headed back to the K after this season, which means now that the Flyers have him, he'll go on a little mini streak and show chemistry or something with MM and then BLAM 5 years @6M or something. SMH. |

Bit premature. We have no idea what the future holds for Tors beyond next year. The Flyers could part ways with him at the end of this season

I have no issue at all moving on from either player but it is awfully funny the reaction from certain fans. As if Farabee and Frost couldn’t play a lick of hockey.
Meanwhile nary a word about Poehling, Hathaway, Laughton, Risto, Seeler, etc. yet the Flyers brass overvalues these guys like crazy and wouldn’t settle for less than an overpay. - StepfordSam
I saw the writing on the wall for frost this year. But tbh there are others I would have sent packing before as you say. The biggest issue with me is that I don’t like the return. An ahl player, a guy we really don’t need to re sign and a 2 and 7 pick. The only real value I see is the second. We got very little for two former first rounders whose point production was likely stunted from playing under torts. Just watch these guys explode on a better team. That’ll be great to see.

Like Briere said, the biggest value in the deal was getting out from farabees contract. They have a bunch of middling talent that can easily take his spot for cheaper. They need to save cap dollars for premium talent and need to get prepared for that |

A nice and entirely stupid, entirely lopsided trade to remind me just how Flyers ownership completely killed my interest in hockey. |

They made the move, finally. Seems from press conference, DB did not have much interest in either player. I am good with it, for the future as long as they apply they same thought process to Laughton and the vets. |

Calgary was the only team willing to take Farabee's salary, every other team wanted the Flyers to cover some salary. That is why this deal was made. We have to face facts, other GMs and team scouts are not stupid, they can see what Frost and Farabee are, and combined they were not worth more than a mid 2nd round pick. |

Time to trade Risto before the tournament. Teams are doing business. Flyers would have to.jump like 7 teams to make the playoffs. It is not happening. Closer to a top 5 pick. Move Risto and let Grans play the rest of the season. |

Calgary put Farabee on the 1st line and Frost is centering the 2nd as well as playing on their 1st PP line. Sure they have no value. |

I watched the first period of the Calgary game and Frost and Farabee looked good. If they are allowed to play their game and not required to just collapse in the defensive zone to do the job of a goalie (block shots), they might just actually be able to contribute beyond a 2nd round picks worth. Coaching has consequences.
This trade will take some time to judge as to who “won”. |

Most of us knew they were not a playoff team and maybe the front office is finally realizing it too. I’m sure the Room is just fine after the trade as it will be if they move Laughton and Risto and almost anyone else. It’s a business and the players know it, so long as they are treated professionally. If this coach is really so good at establishing a culture, the front office shouldn’t fear moving players out. |

Could be the right way, the surprise of this trade gives the heads up that the vets are next, if not, then BS
Farabee was meh last night, Frost was fed ice time including half wall on pp one, announcers drooled over him but no points |

Looking at the scoreboard and the standings Plenty of tweener teams could use Laughton or RR |

We're a little different than we've ever been I think within the Flyers' organization, where there are a lot more prospects coming in, we have some young guys developing," Briere said. "We felt that, around them, guys were going by them. We had higher hopes, I would say, for Morgan and Joel just maybe two years ago and guys were starting to go by them.
- Danny Briere
This says it all really. I am happy to move these guys out. |
