Calgary put Farabee on the 1st line and Frost is centering the 2nd as well as playing on their 1st PP line. Sure they have no value.
- Dkos

LOL, exactly where they played with the Flyers, and we saw the results. Won’t be any different in Calgary.

Could be the right way, the surprise of this trade gives the heads up that the vets are next, if not, then BS

Farabee was meh last night, Frost was fed ice time including half wall on pp one, announcers drooled over him but no points

- wcorvette

I’m really shocked! I would have thought with those two playing big minutes the Flames would have won 8-2

This says it all really. I am happy to move these guys out.

Welcome to your opinion but time will tell. I have always been a huge DB fan, wanted him when he was an FA but when you say players like Ryan P passed Frost this year, you are a liar or stupid. Ryan P with favorable treatment has been simply bad. Frost is slotted better with the Flames, there was no 1 or 2 C here, watch backlund and Kadri play maybe and you will see a structural difference in the teams.

Better off saying his lid was 3C, and we want More of a checking C, with some O, like Cates and not an edge work type. Better to say Jett can be that Frost type C but more in the mold of a Torts player. Candidly Frost had a good game last night, looked like he was freed, time will tell though, he is prone to ups and downs.

This trade with moving out the vets, getting a top pick and more, makes sense, without it, it more of your boy Torts with his hand up DB’s ass pulling the strings

The Flyers need to end the Torts/Michkov relationship quickly. He has to be taught "play the right way" is a farce.

Nothing is surprising on how Torts has acted this season. He somehow gets credit for young players taking giant steps after he leaves like Werenski. Give me a break, maybe it is because they got out from under the mind garbage placed on them.

This guy has passion. Hope this guy fits right in

One of the main reasons he was acquired. Passion trumps talent. He will be a fan favorite I am sure JJ and Bouch will say. Great for the room.

Like Briere said, the biggest value in the deal was getting out from farabees contract. They have a bunch of middling talent that can easily take his spot for cheaper. They need to save cap dollars for premium talent and need to get prepared for that
- Just5

Yet they traded him at his lowest value. Missed the boat which is not a surprise. Should have been moved last June. Danny was probably working so hard forget all about it.

What premium talent do they need the cap space for?

I don’t have any attachment to Frost and Farabee, but they are good players. What’s the point of pretending they’re not? They may or may not play better in Calgary, but they had more value than DB got back in that trade.

Good stuff. So much for the franchise altering 2025 draft that will see the future cup run up for the Flyers.

It’s simple to me. Team doesn’t se them developing any further and gave up on them. Couldn’t get a lot for bee because of his contract and injury issues. Just looked to dump them for whatever they could get.

Can anyone explain to me why Farabee and Frost were able to play last night, but the guys coming from Calgary are having visa issues? Don’t these guys travel between US and Canada all the time?

I think he was just a throw in. Probably an ahl guy but take a look. We need talent not more truculence. We got out from under bees salary and got back a 2nd and a former first rounder probably ahl guy. The price of unloading bad contracts I guess

The way I read it, it has to do with work visas. Maybe they are different now that their home team is in the US instead of Canada.

Both IMO were clearly cap dumps.

Funny saying no one wanted Farabee's contract. Yet I am expected to believe they will take Risto's and get value back?

I'm not trying to be an a$$, but how can anyone really know what is a deep/shallow draft as far as talent that makes an impact in the NHL. Just hope Flyers can avoid drafting another Nolan Patrick. Missing on top 10 picks really hurts.

Frankly, I would be disappointed if Briere used all these picks in the first 2 rounds for prospects. I believe team building should involve trading for players in other organizations also. Not a JT Miller trade for a 31 yr old who will be 38 when his contract ends. There is not much in free agency other then Rantenan that is worth spending significant money to acquire. I think Briere is going to trade for a RFA center who he is then going to sign a long term deal because the other team is unwilling to go long term with that player. Briere uses assets including some of these picks to get the trade done.

I image there’s some sort of paperwork involved with playing in Canada too. Why’s it take several days to figure it out coming into the US? Trades happen all the time. Canadian and Russian players work in the US all the time.

Don't recall other teams having this issue with trades made days prior and still not able to play. Seems odd is all.

Pelletier seemed to take it pretty hard. Wonder if that was before or after he realized it what team he had to go to. Cant blame him lol. Then had to beg the other guy to play in Philly.

My point is the Flyers pumped this draft up and shoved it down Flyers fans throats as being the key to success. This is where they were focused.

Anyone with half a brain knows what the Flyers will try to do. They will acquire and overpay a physical 2nd pair guy who they will pass off as a top pair guy. Either via trade for someone who is already overpaid or free agency. They will then apply that logic for 2 middle of the lineup guys who they will pass off as top end guys. It will be a Kevin Hayes/Risto situation all over again.

That is after they re-sgin and overpay their own culture guys.

How much were they worth in your mind? A 3rd line center and wing are not worth much.

Certainly, you could be right. Briere's actions or inactions by the trade deadline will form my opinion further. Teams in the playoff hunt are certainly active before the deadline, no excuse for Briere not to do business other then incompetence. Curious how it unfolds. Good news, answers will be given soon.

Don't playoff teams normally over pay for rentals? And whose to say they actually use all the drafts picks and not make trades?

Was Farabee's value higher in June or was it higher last week when he was traded?
