Don't playoff teams normally over pay for rentals? And whose to say they actually use all the drafts picks and not make trades? - WhiskeyMan

The way I read it, it has to do with work visas. Maybe they are different now that their home team is in the US instead of Canada. - MBFlyerfan
Calgary is in the playoff hunt and can't afford to wait. Flyers are not so who cares |

A team like DET is getting by with competent goaltending from Talbot and Lyon. I am very curious what the plan in goaltending is going forward. A lot of faith one of Ersson, Kolosov, Bjarnason, or Zivargin turn into the guy. Will Briere going with the triumvirate 2 years in a row? Don't get me wrong, the team needs a lot of improvement to be competitive again. However, the goaltending solution is far from being resolved. |

My point is the Flyers pumped this draft up and shoved it down Flyers fans throats as being the key to success. This is where they were focused.
Anyone with half a brain knows what the Flyers will try to do. They will acquire and overpay a physical 2nd pair guy who they will pass off as a top pair guy. Either via trade for someone who is already overpaid or free agency. They will then apply that logic for 2 middle of the lineup guys who they will pass off as top end guys. It will be a Kevin Hayes/Risto situation all over again.
That is after they re-sgin and overpay their own culture guys. - furio16

How much were they worth in your mind? A 3rd line center and wing are not worth much. - WhiskeyMan
That's the problem you asking a person who clearly acts like a leafs fan ( we trade our 7th rd pick for your 1st)

Certainly, you could be right. Briere's actions or inactions by the trade deadline will form my opinion further. Teams in the playoff hunt are certainly active before the deadline, no excuse for Briere not to do business other then incompetence. Curious how it unfolds. Good news, answers will be given soon. - Trox88
I'm giving danny till draft, because sometimes you can move players then |

That's fair because it would be incredibly disappointing to add a potentially core player before the deadline. The team is so close to the top 5 as opposed to making the playoffs, continue to slide and get the best possible draft pick. Subtracting from the team should be the focus. Keep Gaucher and Andrae up for the season. Open up a slot for Grans or Samson. This should be the focus.

Good stuff. So much for the franchise altering 2025 draft that will see the future cup run up for the Flyers. - furio16
It really comes down to risk\Reward
Maybe the draft is not as deep as people believed but you also have to consider the teams moving 1sts are going to be picking in the bottom 10. The thought then becomes what are the chances you get talent equal to what you can draft and is the wait worth holding onto the pick.
Generally for teams with legit chances to win, the answer is no it isnt worth it. Going for it with a rental and potentially re-signing them has more value than a late pick that might be a NHL player. Flyers need to take some risks and 1sts and to a lesser extent 2nds can provide that. 3rd round and on is like a hail mary
It will be interesting to see what the Flyers think. Do they trade back to the 2026 draft with one of the later firsts? If the consenus is that the draft isnt that strong, It will be hard to imagine them being moved for a high end player

I dont see the rush in making changes. I would look to end the Fedotov experiment, People act like theres no reason to terminate the contract but we've just seen Saad do it so he could go elsewhere. He left money on the table to do so. Id just run Ersson and Kolosov next season. To me they either shine which is positive or they dont and you continue the rebuild through the draft. A goalie wont magically make us a contender so Id rather just see what we got and adjust the plan from there. Another top 10 draft pick wont hurt the team

Really? Coding in 7th grade? 👍 my son didn’t get that until high school. He really liked that teacher. Very influential. He ended up at Drexel and is a security analyst now. - Dkos
We use Code.org and are teaching them very basic fundamentals using "blocks" to code. |
