I will say that reminds of one of Torts funnier pressers. AP was sick and Torts was asked why he was out. “Because he sh!t his pants.” 😂

Briere waited too long to sell Farabee and Frost, and sold low. He needs to move Risto before the deadline and sell high. There is no way with his age, he fits the timeline for the team to be competitive. Could potentially open up a pairing of Andrae-Grans for about 25 games. That would be a benefit to the rebuild.

i don't have an issue with a GM lying to the public about the importance of a player. My issue was the length of time to start moving players off the roster from a roster that has not really been competitive since the Covid year. Players like Farabee and Frost have been here a pretty long time. They did not help lift the team out of mediocrity. Not all their fault. It is the exact same reason Risto and Laughton should also be moved. When the team has not been really competitive this long, really no need to keep very many players who have been a part of the roster for all the losing. They are trying to establish "culture" with players who have won absolutely nothing but a 1st rd win in the bubble against MTL. The only player on the roster who had even more success in the playoffs is Couts, who ironically Torts really does not value. I find it amazing with a PP so bad, they refuse to use Couts to take offensive zone draws and just park himself in front of the next during a PP.

i do wonder if convincing Kuzmenko to waive his no trade is also to try and sign Maxim Shabanov. At this point, no issue with trying to find better talent, no matter the size of the player.

Pettersson has to be off the board now anyway with JT Miller to the Rags. No faith in Briere

Amazing how much more value Drury got out of Chytil than Danny got out of Frost + Farabee.

Not a Torts hater but never bought in to the theory that he is influencing the front office as much as some here claimed he does. I was fine with Frosty moving on but with this trade including Farabee, I agree with the haters. We are softer and older. Hockey is not about just blocking shots. These new scrubs won't provide that. Torts needs to go asap.

Unless an unforeseen miraculous uptick in Kuzemenko’s production occurs, I fully expect the plan is to let him walk in the offseason. The KHL is for you, bud. Do svidaniya.

I think the Flyers knew that if Frost put up 40 points, they were going to have to offer him a deal they weren’t comfortable locking him into. Either that, or just let him go. That wouldn’t look good, either. Rip off the bandaid now.

This deal, although the short end of the stick on paper, allowed them to jettison one recent contract they were probably shaky on, and avoid another all together.

Cap dump, which isn't fun or flashy, but its fine. They gotta pick a lane anyways, and they already have way too much money allocated toward mediocrity as it is.

I am sure the 1st round pick did nothing to add value for the trade.

Vancouver got a decent player amd a first found pick.

Rangers got older by adding another aging player.

Vancouver was busy last night;
The Vancouver Canucks acquired Marcus Pettersson, and Drew O'Connor from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Danton Heinen, Vincent Desharnais, and a conditional 2025 1st round pick

If he were available, why not for a “rebuilding” team? Hes like 26, a number 1 center, and under contract for a long time. I don’t blame Briere for not acquiring him, but I have zero faith in Briere to rebuild this team (if that’s what he’s really doing). He hasn’t proven to be a very good GM but seems more like the same. I’ll without judgement on the Frost/Farabee trade because it might be part of a grand plan. But for now he doesn’t get the benefit of any doubt.

I don’t think too many here want to bash Danny. I want his success as do so many others. But what has he done to improve this team’s future? He’s signed some questionable contracts and extensions, not gotten the team out of cap hell (although this recent trade may have been a positive step towards that goal), the prospect pool is not viewed by most hockey experts as being an upper echelon pool, the results on the ice are stagnant, and his trades haven’t moved the needle. Perhaps Drysdale (I’m a huge fan of his) will reach his potential but it’s not looking good. Perhaps these late picks from Florida-Edmonton and Colorado will be home runs. Maybe all these 2nd rounders will defy the percentages and yield an elite player or be used in a great move. But, GMDB has done nothing to separate him from his two predecessors. As a lifelong fan, I’m tired of the same old thing. Not bashing Danny but I have no faith in him or Comcast as the owners.

Guys .. Pelletier is nothing. The 2nd round pick is nothing. This is the first of more moves to come. The Flyers are clearing out the players that are not part of the solution here and accumulating more cap space. That is what this trade is about.
- jd250

Just for Shiit’s and Giggles….have you seen what the cap numbers now are for the next 3 years. Briere is going to start to run out of excuses. Now if he gets fleeced on a deal? He can’t use the “we didn’t it for the cap” excuse.

I really, really wish he could give me some reasons to give him credit for something? I hope in the future he does. It gets old being frustrated with this team.

I actually don’t think it’s all that amazing. And I hope it kinda puts things in perspective for a lot of this homer fan base with regards to how they over value the players on this Flyers roster. These players are simply not that good, and clearly don’t hold a lot of value amongst the rest of the league. And yes, Torts’ and the rest of this organization’s inability to develop players is definitely going to leave a lasting impact on this team for years to come. When the GM is forced to constantly cut bait or move on from guys that were first round picks and initially viewed as major parts of the future, it’s going to catch up with them.

At least the trade deflected attention from the Michkov and coach blow-up and his benching. Torts is going to teach him the “right way” to play even if it destroy’s this kid’s creativity, confidence and love of playing for the Flyers.

Torts keeps saying , "that is the way we play here".

Well, someone has to point out to them that the way they play here is crap, and has been for over a decade. (much, MUCH longer when you think about it)

Looking at the Flyers and Sixers 1st round picks over the last 10-12 years. Not good.

Joel and Frost for a 2nd rd pick just seems very light. Considering they had what 90 plus combined points last season. Selling low is never a good thing.

He doesn’t have to cut bait… it’s about reading the market and being proactive. This recent trade or move lined up same as coots being named captain pre Valentine’s Day mid season basically after football season is essentially over money grab for attention. Drum up attention to flyers to market team for profits.

Strong beginning season marketing (mm/tk) new era.

Mid season moves hey football over we’re still here come watch us

Followed by strong end of season push look at the future possibilities ahead.

All the while of truly interested in building these bums could be maximized at times like the draft or when players get injured on other teams or tdl day or at the draft but that timeline doesn’t line with their marketing narrative so db doesn’t strike when a real gm would.
