Was Petterssons value that low that Dubas needed to take on 4+mill in cap dumps for this season and next just to get a 1st???
Cap space is extremely useful and when you are paying 9+ mill for Jarry and Graves it dries up quickly… |

I guess reports are Dubas might be aggressive in spending some picks and assets if their are young talent he feels could help us now and in the future. Should be interesting |

We are so used to trading our 1st round pick, we are in new terrority since 2012 where we could have two top 20 picks.
Im not a big fan of the lottery ticket nature of 1st round picks. I'd much rather wait on the Penguins pick in case its top 5, but for the Rangers pick, I'd flip it at the draft for young-NHL ready talent. Let a team that overvalues 1st round picks take the gamble. - SuperHenderson13
Dubas just hinted at doing this, but yeah, not with our first. We have 29 picks in the next 3 drafts. Bunting and Gryz on deck hopefully.

Yeah, my team has now inherited that problem. I think JR and PA are allergic to 1st round picks. |

Rutherford will trade every pick and prospect he can find
Love him, helped build a back-to-back Cup winning team, but man did he burn through assets. |

Canucks basically got Chityl and Pettersson for Miller
Would you have traded Rust and Pettersson for Miller?
With the cap going up, Millers 8 million I think will age well. From a 2C now to a 3C when he gets older and his 8 million is nothing on a 130 million+ cap

Pettersson and DOC for a 1st, 3rd round prospect and 2 cap dumps
Vs
Granlund and Ceci for a 1st and conditional 3rd - pens4life-66
It actually sounds about right. Granlund has played great hockey and Ceci has had a pretty solid season also. Pettersson has been solid but unspectacular and DOC is awful. We are going to end up with the better pick and a decent prospect but had to eat some dead cap space.
Seems like appropriate value for both deals. |

His salary is fine. His skill set is top shelf. But his personality is flawed. He can destroy a locker room if it isn’t strong or is particularly young. We all hoped he would lead our young core. He did the exact opposite. |

JR had his hands tied so bad it was kind of unwinnable for him. I expect he extends Petts at like $5.75M for 8 years and that probably makes the trade feel like a win for him.
Crazy to think, but trading Miller could be addition by subtraction for this team. It will be really interesting to see what they do with Boeser. I still feel like we could see a 3 team deal with Boeser going somewhere with us retaining and Rackell going to Vancouver.
The Avs, Devils and Kings would all make sense in that scenario. |

Just a reminder, you will not have to suffer through 15 minutes of DOC ice time tonight. |

The downside with nucks management is that they will spend every asset fixing yesteryears mistake and whatever player he is fixated on. At least he shoots for the sky though.
I hope we jettison a few more players though by next year for some kids. |

Looking through all the young players rumored to be available:
Zegras, Cozens, Byram, Power, K’Andre Miller, Robertson, Boeser (but I assume we would have traded for him in the previous deal), Norris, Nemec, Jack Quinn, and Benson. |

We should just send everything to Buffalo and take all their aforementioned players. |

MP is a LD that provides minimal offense and was having a mediocre season. Seems like a good return to me. |

Hahaha as I typed out the list I felt we could go after any of those players from Buffalo. I also thought about maybe a Zegras and Gibson deal. Zegras if he came back into form could sell some tickets especially next to Sid. |

I feel like Adams is afraid of his own shadow. Terrified of making a mistake so he just sits on his hands. He had a window to trade for Pettersson, he should have been willing to overpay to get him.
He has 3 young 1LD caliber players and little else but he has been unwilling to make a tough decision to improve the team. I expect he is finally realizing that he is going to get fired if he doesn't do something so it will be interesting to see what happens.
I've got zero interest in Zegras but he is the type of player Dubas could chase. |

Zegras I would take a shot with. If we didn't have to give up a first and we got rid of Hayes, Jarry, or Graves. |

Call Adams, tell him he is getting fired and that’s already set in stone. He’s done. So go out with a blaze by giving us cozens, kulich, quin, power, and byram.. and maybe a couple first for all our crap. Leave a real impact Adams. |

I would have traded Pettersen for a first and if they wanted OConner as a throw in then so be it and that’s all that really matters to me. We got what we needed |

Going to be pretty interesting the next couple of years. Next year likely won't look any different, but we only have 3 NHL forwards signed for the 26/27 season. They have 3 D and I'd be willing to bet EK will be moved so probably only 2 dmen that will have substantial contracts. Obviously they'll have some kids slotted in but they don't make anything. So approximately 45 to 55 million in cap space in 2 years. Lots of holes to fill, but a ton of cap space to work with.

I think it will be quite different. Mass exodus of older players and an influx of younger players. Followed by a 25-30 win season leading to a top 10 pick. |
