JV started it all rolling even tbough I liked him. Problem was he was too stupid. I had Ehlers.

OJ an unneeded reach picking that high.
I had Sergachev or trade down for McAvoy.

Pod I liked but said Boldy all year since training camp. He fell & we passed.

Ehlers/McAvoy/Boldy
for
JV/OJ/Pod

Take any 2 outta of & still a huge win.

Many here myself included loved that they drafted Jake V including the guy from the Left Coast

He’s not a leader, he’s a quiet introverted kid. He can lead with his offense but that’s it. I’m not in the room though.
- Pacificgem

2 types of leaders…

In the room types who play smart steady on the ice. Usually a glue vet.
The other is a C who gets everyone’s respect & kills it on the ice. Hughes.

The best leaders drag a team along.

A 1C is a playmaking play driver & leader. Is EP any of those?
- Nighthawk

We have EP Sh1til and Suter. Three third line centers.

Maybe Miller was right?
- VanHockeyGuy

Miller was definitely right but no clue how to go about it. Too passionate to the point he was poison. He needed a leadership group to insulate him & control his outward vitriol. No easy task.

I am really not sh1tting on him. It is one game only. I though he has had two good games in a row. He is now playing like an 8 mil player. Lets see if he can pull up his big boy pants a little more and play like a superstar that he is paid to play like.
- VANTEL

Start sniping would help starts there. His D & instincts are very good but not close to enough.

This is why I don't want to trade Hoglander yet. He is showing signs of life. Give him some time,
- VANTEL

Patience yes but Hog is starting to show signs of speed & tenacity his bread & butter. It got him into the NHL & 3m on his scoring.

Miller obviously wasn’t going to play like that for the Canucks. That relationship was destroyed. Miller quit on his team. Clear as day now.
- bloatedmosquito

The guy is a maggot. He (frank)ed this team over. Good riddence.

Was it a leave of absence though? If we only had a shop steward to clarify this for us.
- VANTEL

I’m a shop steward on many jobs. Cannot control a hot head they are self centred & cannot listen to reasoning. They rant & rage & get ostracized.

Laughable people are using EP & "leader" in the same sentence!

- VanHockeyGuy

Oxymoron 😂

Benning provided the core here and JR and PA have failed miserably so far to round it all out. The pieces were all there lol

- LordHumungous

Idk about miserably but the D is starting to be fixed. Build net out.

So when Hughes walks you will have Hronek, maybe Pettersson x2, Willander Mancini and Myers. Killer D.

The D is improved I'm sure. They got their top 4 addition and it should push one more pilon out of the top 6. As for the rest... Miller's contribution has been replaced by spreading the talent around... there's pros and cons to that of course.

Let's see how it goes. The narrative monkeys are already judging the team before the new players arrive. That was predictable...

Yup, let's see how he handles things?
- VanHockeyGuy

Without another top 6C he’s on an island now. It’s a real dicey situation. Fixing D is a big step & when Willander arrives gets better. So hard to have 2 top C’s but the price was paid for D.

2 top 6C’s 3 top 4D good in goal my recipe to contend. Work to do.

Mancini will probably be an AHL player like Raty. From what I have read he is another Juulsen,

Pius Suter has more points than Chytil but sure well worth giving up JTM

- VANTEL

Upside 3rd pairing or depth D my guess.

The point is FA controls the team and that's his boy

Meddling owner has been the real issue.

I liked him but wasn’t fully up on prospects. Liked his wheels & shot & banging but sharp like stick. Really poor scouting on his IQ.

Playmaking wingers can make a C fit in better but we have none of those excepting Garland. Leaves it to a C to be legit line driver which we have none of.

I remember in JR he was a banger and Canucks needed that. In an exhibition game he rocked McD and fans were thrilled. About three weeks later he says to the press that is not the style he wants to play in the NHL.

WTF

Yes a maggot but he rose to high level & made the team much better. Who now can do that not named Hughes?

I was very curious why the Canucks traded Heinen for O'Connor? I have to believe it was because Hinny had an extra year. Probably not re-signing O'Connor.
