Oh, I didn't say he sucks, he's EXTREMELY talented, that kid has sick puck skills. I said he's a "useless tit" because he's so soft and he won't go to any of the dirty areas to score goals or for puck retrieval. Perimeter player to a tee. Kids super talented though.

And lets be honest, Chytil is no prize either, he's 25 years old and hasn't asserted himself at the NHL level. But acquiring him is more a product of Allvin's hands being tied and no one wanting to deal with JT's mental state.

Injuries have held him back a bit. If he gets that sorted (I've read it's not all concussion related, but a Crosby-like neck thing) then we'll see a different level.

Someone posted some fancy stats breakdown on Reddit of him... shots and entries and whatever per 60. He's not a great set up guy, he shoots a good amount, really good at zone entries and rush chances.

Honestly if I were Allvin I'd look into packaging Chytil, Boeser & Suter to Ottawa to acquire Josh Norris, Ridly Greig and prospect Carter Yakemchuk. Maybe they throw a pick in too? Something around that, but can be massaged.

Norris and Quinn Hughes are best buddies, former roommates in college. Happy life!!

I don't think we see Allvin and Ruthy sit with this center depth for long.

I still believe they're going to play out this season with Petey and Chytil as the centers, see how they take the reins, and make moves from there. Possibility to still move Petey, but they'll definitely try to upgrade the 2C in summer.

Norris hasn't ever played more than 66 games in a season with 55 points topping it. Maybe not the best for 8 mil.

I like Raty in a bottom six role, he's good on faceoffs and responsible defensively, good contract too, RFA next season though, plus he's only 22 years old. Seems like he's been around longer but he's still young. If he wants to stay in the NHL he's going to have to embrace that role.

I guess we'll have to see what Chytil can bring in a top six center role, I'll be cheering him on, he's very talented, but expectations are blah...

As was the case in the Horvat trade, it’s not about the players coming back in the trade, it was about the pick that allowed them to get Hronek. I think the “prize” in this trade is MPettersson. Essentially it’s Milller for MPettersson. From what I’ve read, he’s going to help our horrible defence. Very reliable, very steady.

Just got to re-sign at a good rate and then I’ll consider it a decent trade. Until then, it was disappointing day unfortunately.

Seventeen fucking pages of Nighthawk's gibberish. I, like ASL, thought there was another trade.

I'm hopeful they can re-sign him too, I've also read that he's a very good defenseman. He dropped the gloves with Tom Wilson from the Caps, it wasn't much of a fight but that's pretty ballsy of him to do that!!

As for Chytil, his role with the Rangers has been limited for the most part there, injuries and he only averages 13-14 minutes a night behind Trocheck and Zibanejad. I'm hopeful they can extract more out of him and get him up around 18 minutes and night in a more offensive role.

100 percent they have to re-sign him, and I fully believe they will. Both Ruthy and Allvin have said it's their priority, and Ruthy was gushing about him after the trade.

It would definitely be a risk, that's for sure. More at play though, keeping Hughes happy being a high priority. Could you imagine they trade both EP40 and Chytil, they could really increase their center depth by trading both of them.

Big Z is the one that I think “what if”. His swagger reminded me of the Kesler/Bieksa/Burrows days. We were so hated around the league but those were fun teams to watch.

I thought we were witnessing that again after last seasons playoff success. My optimism was at an all time high going into this season. As a Canuck fan, I should have known better.

It's not really, the kid has 445 points in 452 NHL games, he's a very talented player who's gone through a tough year this year from the noise within the organization, as has everyone except Hughes, and he had wrist and knee issues in the playoffs last year.

He just has to go back to what he was before this year and he's perfectly fine. He finished 18th in NHL scoring last season and everyone said he sucks, it's simply not true. From January 1st last season until the end of the year he had 46 points in 46 games, was +12, averaged 19:31 in icetime.

The whole noise around him is because he had 13 games at the end of the year where he didn't score an even strength goal and he sucked in the playoffs, as I said, wrist and knee issue.

Unfortunately, the kid is never going to be able to live up to that contract. When I look at the salary list most of the players beyond Draisaitl, Matthews, MacKinnon, and McDavid don’t earn their salary.

In my opinion, PA’s biggest gaffe so far as a GM was that contract.

I've read quite a few Rangers fans think if he stays healthy and gets 2c minutes/pp1 he could be a 70pt+ guy easy.

I think they definitely overpaid him but with a rising salary cap, something they probably took into consideration, I saw online an 11.5 million cap hit will be the same as an 8.0-8.5 million cap hit in two years.

If he can get back to that 80+ point range he's fine. I can't see any reason a kid as talented as him can't get back there.

That would be a relief. I’d also hope he can be aggressive on the forecheck and is defensively responsible. You know, like Miller was last season.
