I gotta believe that Lou knows this is the exact moment to capitalize on it being a sellers market and gets “over value” for assets. Nelson and Palmieri would be foolish to accept Lou’s extension. They can get more money on the open market. Who wouldn’t want to go to a new city when you make that kinda money. It’s not everyday you get the chance to change cities and get a new look. My take anyway..
I think Lou is drumming up interest and actually playing the hand properly. Someone is gonna pay up and give up more than they should to land Nelson, Palmieri and or JGP. The isles are in the drivers seat for once. - kindlyrick
I would really like to believe this but I’m having a real hard time buying into it. |

Or her resigns them all - Upstate_isles
I think Nelson and Palmieri would be foolish to sign an extension now. July 1st is their most money. I get that it’s more nuanced with kids in school etc, but only fools leave money on the table. See Thomas Vanek. Also, they don’t have a winning roster, why keep it in tact? |

That’s what Lou does at this stage. It doesn’t stop till someone makes him using his last two teams as a reference. |

I’ll tell you I’m about as far as I’ve gotten into I don’t care mode with this team then I ever have. It’s a great place to be. I’ll lose my mind less(but still lose it) if he resigns them. I hope he doesn’t but I can totally see him doing it. |

It should not be it may. Ownership has to decide if they want to continue to be a mid team or something better. This is not MSG, and the building will not be full. If you are bringing back Nelson and Palms, how is this roster going to lonok any different next year? |

MARCH 6: Vegas Golden Knights acquire forward Reilly Smith from New York Rangers for forward Brendan Brisson and 3rd-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Other teams can do it. So can you, Lou! |

Ugh it's not working with them here is mean can a change hurt at this point? Barzal horvat romanov and sorokin are the only ones I wouldn't move, dobson is close as I think k he can rebound offensively |

This season will be the first season since they moved to UBS that I haven't attended at least one game in person. If Lou doesn't trade anyone and then announces that he "has full confidence in this group" ........ I'm gonna lose it. - JohnScammo
I don’t think he’s going to resign these guys. It’s Lou so you never know but I doubt he does. If he did it would be incredibly stupid. |

I am not ready to give Dobson 8 for 8 either! Not consistent enough.

I’m as apathetic as I’ve been in a long time. I haven’t even put a game on since before the 4 Nations thing. This team is just as mediocre as it gets unless Sorokin steals one for them. And, somehow, he’s the one the fans go after on Twitter. Make it make sense. |

The hate Sorokin gets is unbelievable. Makes you realize how stupid the vast majority of this fanbase is. |

The New York Islanders have acquired forward Calum Ritchie, a first-round selection in the 2026 or 2027 NHL Draft, a conditional third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, and defenseman Oliver Kylington from the Colorado Avalanche, in exchange for Brock Nelson and William Dufour.
There it is
Ritchie has great potential. Kylington already flipped to Anaheim for future considerations |
