The New York Islanders have acquired forward Calum Ritchie, a first-round selection in the 2026 or 2027 NHL Draft, a conditional third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, and defenseman Oliver Kylington from the Colorado Avalanche, in exchange for Brock Nelson and William Dufour.

There it is
Ritchie has great potential. Kylington already flipped to Anaheim for future considerations

I landed in Albany at 12:03 on a flight from Denver. Coincidence!? Maybe.

First reaction is that the isles fleeced the avs by a lot of people that cover hockey. Athletic gave the avs 3 A grades and the isles 2 A+ and an A. Now continue to retool and move Palms and lee and Pageau

Calum Ritchie on paper appears to be a solid prospect. Plus, a #1 in next year's draft which is deeper than this year's draft. I will take it.

Dufour essentially moving for a third and or the defenseman, I can live with because I do not think he was ever going to make to the NHL.

Let's see how things play out. The main thing here is that the team was able to bring a solid prospect and draft capital. We would all be screaming if Lou did nothing.

Maybe a draft pick this year or next.

MARCH 6: Colorado Avalanche acquire forwards Brock Nelson and William Dufour from New York Islanders for forward Calum Ritchie, defenseman Oliver Kylington, a 1st-round pick in the 2026 or 2027 NHL Draft and a 3rd-round pick in 2028. | Nelson traded to Avalanche by Islanders

Just looking at next seasons projected Cap Space. As of right now we went from being up against the cap wall to the team having 28,900,000.00 mil to spend next season. Depending on other moves today, the pot will probably grow.

Next move is locking Palmieri up to an eight year contract.

Being that the cats outta the bag, I hope Lou starts dumping Palmieri, JGP, Pulock etc. I’m 100% on board for a few years of suck in order to be a legit cup contender.

Curious to see what Nelson signs for in Colorado. I bet he gets an extra year than Lou was willing to offer.

Sensing a lil sarcasm from Johnny Sac...However I must agree. The journeyman D did not have a shot at scoring that goal in overtime to give the Isles their first cup in 42 years. Way to nail it.
