I think my biggest problem here is it now seems apparent that Lou never had any intention of being a buyer or seller. To me, unless you feel 100% confident that your current roster is on the right track, you have to be one or the other. Otherwise you're directionless.
For fans, not buying to help the roster is nearly as much of an admission of giving up as selling. We have to leapfrog five teams to get to the WC spot, and now without our leading scorer. It's just such an odd combo of decisions

I don’t think this all needs to be done by the trade deadline Keaner.
You have the draft to make moves and also the entire off season. You have time if your the Islanders so use it. A lot of teams will reevaluate where they are after the PO’s and may go a different direction which could bring more opportunities.
Additionally the cap is going up 8 million next year which obviously brings more opportunities for all teams.

He just moved his best two way center and highest goal scorer. I think that’s selling. LOL
- nyisles7

This is exactly why he shouldn’t stop at this. It’s clearly a seller’s market and figures to only get better as it gets closer to 3pm.

This times a thousand.

To not sell whatever you can sell, and especially guys like D’Angelo and Perunovich, and not do it it’s not only negligible, it’s outright criminal.

No one wants to lose but if you can get another 1st round pick this year for Palms (or another big prospect) and other assorted picks on top of the likely high 1st round pick we already have (if not even 1st overall through luck and losing) you absolutely have to do it for the good of the organization.

If by some miracle, and by that I mean Sorokin absolutely out of his mind for a month, we do nick a wild card spot, we are not defeating ANY team in a series. Barzal is obviously hurt, probably broke his meniscus, and now Brock is gone. Duclair has been a big disappointment, probably also still hurt. This team is going nowhere BUT does have some good pieces moving forward where if we’re an “up-and-coming” team in just 2 seasons then having 13, 30, 14, 28, 8 and even Holmstrom, still in their primes is the move. Hell, I’d be listening for Pulock, Pelech and Lee right now as much as it would pain me to see them go.

- potvin05

Doesn’t matter whether Palms is worth a 2nd and 4th. You take it.

As I stated on my last post. This doesn’t need to be done by today at 3. If a deal that makes sense is there you do it but there’s time to make the right deal when it presents itself.

Palmieri has NO value after 3pm. It’s that simple.

Wow I guess he will be sitting next to Cal and Shannon next year. 😂
I’m going to disagree with you. More than a half point player this year per game, 20 goals pretty consistently and physical. He will be playing somewhere next year. If in fact he wants to play.

The problem is it's the denial of one of the better seller's markets we've seen in a while. Brandon Tanev just brought back a second round pick. :ahh:

To keep running back this roster, which is the 4th oldest in the league, close to the bottom in the conference while ignoring fruitful options to strengthen the future seems negligent.
Maybe Lou has a surprise or two coming today, but this seems like a passive approach

Why can’t it still be here? I never said I want these guys gone. You can easily resign him considering their relationship, no?

Lou didn’t sell Brock. Brock declined the extension.

7. Here’s a pretty simple question. What do you want, TODAY? Not in a month, not at the draft. I’m talking today…

I’ll wait till the end of the day but this is exactly why the Leafs and the Devils moved on from him. The guy literally has said he doesn’t value picks or prospects. That’s his MO.

Yeah im not a happy camper here. The stubbornness is off the charts.

You’re gonna believe in this group while sitting in 13th place? Gimme a break with that. How ironic that the new ownership made it a priority to get UBS built and their GM is still at the coliseum.

I think it’s an unemotional professional approach. There is a lot of time from now until the rosters need to be set by opening day.
Palms may go today but if you’re not getting what you want then wait.
Also would you sign him if he wanted to stay at 1 or 2 years at 3 million?

Cody Glass for a 3rd.

Palmieri is clearly worth a 1st. We can always resign him, if we want and he wants.

Not really sure where to find the logic in signing Palmieri. It’s bad asset management. You have an opportunity to get a return on an asset you gave assets up for. It’s pretty simple.

I think I saw the direction of the team and team management change by trading Brook.
That was the first think I wanted to see. That said I have no idea who’s asking for who on the Isles Roster and what is being offered.
I think you’ll see more move after FA and also after the draft seeing what assets they have and where they need to fill holes.

The reports at the moment are 2-3years close to his current aas of $5m.
With teams clearly overpaying for assets for their cup push, this is a great time to gather more assets. If they extend Palms today, he absolutely will not be dealt at the end of the year, at which time the offers would not be as substantial anyway .
As I said, it's clear Lou had no intention of a retool or sell off. He's offered substantial extensions to players we all were agreeing needed to be sold at this point.
This is it. We're running it back and will use what space we have next year to add a player or two to our current roster. Unfortunately, attracting UFAs has not exactly been a strength here.

Do you think Palms is worth a 1st? If Beauvillier and Tanev are fetching 2nds and Cody friggin Glass is worth a 3rd, I’d say so.

It’s not going to get any easier with essentially the same roster minus Nelson. 😆

In theory but hardly happens. Doug Weight comes to mind but again it’s rare.
Palms had a house out east he lives in in the off season. His family loves it here. If he goes and resigns a good team deal I would love it.
Maybe we see it. Time isn’t over yet.
Trades are announce well past the 3pm deadline due to league back logs.

These guys fill a hole these teams were looking for I guess. Also some have played with others on the team or for coaches in the past. If I had these answers I would be part of the expect GM’s on this site.
