You do not think the the triumvirate lies to the fans yet you think one of if not the most respected man in hockey reporting is lying
makes total sense - corduroy
Well, I have always believed you don't listen to what a GM says, you only look at what they actually do. I never considered that lying, it's just part of the job of being a professional GM. |

I think Briere is going to offer sheet Mason McTavish. I'm well aware the Ducks will have even more cap space then the Flyers this summer. The Ducks are owned by the Samueli family. For the previous few years, all of their young players have signed bridge deals after the ELC has ended. Drysdale and Zegras were a prolonged negotiation. Will the Ducks be willing to break tradition and sign a young player to a long-term extension for McTavish? With the cap rising, I'm not so sure most of the league will be willing to get near the ceiling of the cap. I wonder where Anaheim will fit with the cap about to rise significantly over the next few years. Also, a lot of smoke to York to ANA for the past few seasons, could see a McTavish for York trade in the summer. Could be another possibility. - Trox88

I highly doubt the credibility of this report. What broadcast was Briere on? The last interview he gave was his mid year on Jan 21st and then this past Saturday answering questions about the trade. I searched and could find no other interviews or appearances by Briere, so where did this broadcast take place? - jd250

Thanks! It doesn't seem to me hearing this and reading the article I just posted that Briere is not stating anything different than what he stated on Saturday, that this trade was for cap flexibility in the future and having the ability to go after the right player if and when that player becomes avaialable. |

Makes sense, they are projected to have $23M in cap space next season. They can get a couple of really good players if they wanted to with that. |

That piece offered nothing.
Need to get a player to sign said offer sheet first. Then it will take a big overpay. Can't wait to see how the deadline and leading up to the draft plays out.
When all is said and done JD will be like I will wait until the 2026 deadline to see what direction Danny takes. |

You can read into how you and I will read into how I want. They have all along thought they can solve the problems by free agency or trade. |

A rumor a year ago or more was Briere inquired about Zegras and Verbeek wanted York. How true, not sure.

There are only 3 main ways to build a team and any good team employs all three, draft and develop, trades and free agent signings. Why should the Flyers be any different? |

Wouldn’t it be smarter to trade for McTavish now, or Rossi or Johnston after their teams are done in the playoffs and then just sign them to an extension instead of risking losing out and still ultimately having next years draft capital expended? Too many risks if they know they want to target guys like that. Also, if that’s the GMs plan, it’s kind of silly to put his eggs in one basket when their respective teams can just sign them to an extension any time before free agency hits.
And if that’s a legitimate concern, hopefully the Flyers intrepid GM plans accordingly with his own RFA’s Foerester and York. |

I think it was the beginning of last season before all the Zegras injuries. As far as York, I still do not believe York, Andrae, or Drysdale will be here long term. York is an RFA this summer, doubt his agent is interested in another bridge deal with cap rising significantly over the next few seasons. Pretty sure his agent will want a better contract then the Sanheim extension. All those factors make me wonder if York would be included in a trade to acquire a center. |

If that’s York’s approach, GMDB needs to trade him before he does something stupid and gives him an 8x6.5 |

York was mentioned in Hilferty’s letter, Drysdale was not. Neither was Tippett. Makes me think those two are being dangled in trade returns more so than York. |

It's possible and if they want to extend York for somewhere 8 yrs @ 8 million/yr then that would not be surprising. That is strictly my guess with the cap increasing and % of cap for cap hits readjusted. That would leave Andrae and Drysdale as tradeable assets. I do believe the organization believes Bonk and Gill will have spot in the top 6 over the next 2-3 seasons. Also, McDonald and Grans are much closer then those two to potentially secure top 6 roles. In the end, I feel someone from the blueline is getting moved by the draft. Just my opinion.

So are you saying 7 picks in the top 2 rds is not a good thing for a rebuilding team, and could potentially be more who knows |
