Not many teams can take on 11.6m.
Next up is if his scoring continues as it has it will further cement a lessen the return later. The risk is obvious take a boatload if offered or if not wait it out & HOPE he gets back to his normal self. - Nighthawk
So how is it easier to move 11.6 now than in the summer? Follow the conversation...
I feel I've already explained my stance. So I'll summarize, the closer to July 1st they get, if he's playing like he is or worse. It's gonna really hurt the team because he will not be anywhere near worth what he's getting paid. Not a lot of teams will give you much for a failing 92 million dollar investment regardless of where the cap goes. - Load Management
Most teams are going to be trading with the idea they can get him back on track. He's an amazing player when he's on. His health and this Miller thing have taken their toll. The next 30 games are truly unlikely to sway teams, unless Pettersson quits on the team and sulks around. That is clearly unlikely to happen. Most likely is he plays the way he has been, or increases his output a notch or two.
Some teams won't want his contract, other teams that have a hard time attracting UFAs won't mind it a bit. I just find it hard to believe that if a team really wants him now, they aren't going to want him the same in a couple months.
Do they even bother looking at what they are posting? They have Danton Heinen listed as "if there is a market tier".....the guy was traded already for eff sakes. - claygolf83
Ya, they tend to be a few days behind on lots of their stuff

Trade.
Lots of teams can take on 11.6. Looking at Puckpedia a quick non-researched look says every team but 2 will have enough cap space. As well, the Canucks would want roster players back, so it wouldn't even be close to the full contract hit. Columbus is set to have 45 mil in cap space.
They're just reposting things Drance and Dayal wrote a week and a bit ago. - NewYorkNuck
The article they are referring to was written on January 30th, the day of the trades. Nonetheless, the author could have noted Heinen had already been traded to gain a bit more credibility but whatever.
I appreciate your writings for this site and would never expect you to commit such an offence

They have 31 teams to talk with about moving him. I don't think they ever had a chip to move like this. 100 point player in his mid 20's with no trade protection.
They are in a unique position here. Both options of wait and see and trading him later are available and they are going to handle it one at a time in order. I really think it's positive, not a panicky situation like people are knee jerking over.

Pretty big move based on a "If". What about "if" the team stabilizes, starts winning on a regular basis and Petey is a big part of that?
Sems to me your "if" really doesnt play into what you want. Your mind is made up. Management is going to be more calculated on this. They are not pandering to a group of fans. - boonerbuck
A. Pandering is my word of the day. Find your own.
B. I'm responding to a lot of if's. Some of which are already happening. So you'll just have accept it.
C. I hope the kid turns things around as it's what's best for the team moving forward. It just doesn't seem to be happening and hasn't been for quite a while.

You could just relax a little and see how it goes. In all probability, you are going to have to anyways.
Back to the original argument... it's been reasonably explained a few times that they are trying to make the right decision, have time on their side, and probably have a different order to how they are going to handle Petey and not simply pandering to him. That is narrative monkey stuff. Dismissing it and just claiming pandering is narrow minded.

Voice of reason that just isn’t getting the traction it deserves. Rolling the dice is risky. Pinning it on Miller is gone & hope that is the fix is blind hope & poor biz. IF it works I ‘ll be 1st to own up. When it doesn’t I’ll be the 1st 2nd 3rd etc to paint it all over this blog page after page. WARNING served lol

It's not narrow minded nor am I remotely worked up. I'm discussing an opinion. What's narrow is you dismissing this opinion as worked up narrative monkey stuff. I'm quite happy discussing the many possible outcomes. It beats discussing why our top paid player hasn't showed up while the team sinks in the standings.
Try looking at this & see who has cap space NOW. Stay in the moment not the summer.
Let me make the effort to appeal to any sensibility you may or may not have.
Summer. Trade EP then is under what circumstances that is likely to be one or the other of nothing has changed & his value sinks further or he gets back to normal & why would he be traded.
In the summer you assume teams can trade easier before their cap is locked in. You conveniently ignore that is a point in time but time ticks along on how EP does til then so therein lies the risk.

In a couple months from now why would they want EP if a couple more month he hasn’t improved? Are you saying his value cannot depreciate & will be in high demand for a boat load same as now if out there?

It’s not hard for me to wrap my head around sooner is better if a boatload is offered. Summer is plan ‘B’ if lowballed. EP is showing no signs of trending up. I rather a team pull the trigger sooner cuz I don’t wait & hope til later is ALWAYS going to get the best offer. Smaller market teams with the assets don’t want bigger market competition & if they make a solid offer in season they avoid more competition.

100pt player 2 seasons ago & steadily going downhill looking to be more a reclamation project at 11.6m to get back to that high level. You oughta put away Leftys play book & stay in the present cuz teams don’t give a crap about the past & pay for it.

You are lost. So caught up in your hate. Not only will teams have more flexibility in the summer than they do today, the cap is also going up significantly creating even more flexibility for teams.

Probability…you don’t know this
1st up is it’s up to max 33 days of wait
2nd waiting period is minimum 2mths away more like 4mths.

The clock has been ticking towards July 1st all season. There wasn't really a timeline attached to Miller until there was. Why is there a need to assess a player they just dropped 92 million on? There's a shit ton of pandering to try to justify the investment. - Load Management
Gotta get in on the word of the day haha.
Well of course they're pandering to their biggest investment, wouldn't you. If you had an investment portfolio do you care as much about what you have 10K in or what you have 100K in? Would you rather they focus on how Phil Giuseppe is doing and how to get him back on track?

You’re talking to a one track mind tunnel vision mindset. Inflexible stubborn arguementative cannot consider the merit of another's opinion.

If you're going to try and needle people, write proper sentences and read what people are saying. Take a breath in between posts and proofread what you write. This is pure garbage.
