Agree, with no Hughes this team has to win 1-0 or 2-1 ... they just can't drive enough offense without him as they rely on him as the only guy to create any space in offensive zone. Only other guys I'm seeing creating space right now (in different ways) are Garland, Sherwood and TBH Hoglander, even if he's terribly snakebitten right now.

The clock has been ticking towards July 1st all season. There wasn't really a timeline attached to Miller until there was. Why is there a need to assess a player they just dropped 92 million on? There's a shit ton of pandering to try to justify the investment.

They want to keep Petey. Allvin sees the potential. They're not pandering to him, they want it to work and are doing their due diligence to put the team in the best scenario to succeed.

There wasn't a timeline attached to anyone coming into this season. It was all supposed to work. It didn't. There wasn't a timeline for Miller until things broke down and he needed a fresh start. The implications on the room got him moved out ASAP.

They're assessing their 92 million dollar player to make sure he's going to fit in with the vision of the team. If not, they're going to move him. That's not pandering. McDavid getting his high school coach is pandering. They're giving Petey leash and if it doesn't work they're going to trade him.
