If they were doing some sort of load management thing like Anaheim did with Carlsson I would at least understand, and actually agree to an extent. Torts hints at it but why not just come out and say it instead of the "the way we play here" nonsense.
What is "the way we play here"? Losing and not scoring any goals?
It's ridiculous. - MBFlyerfan
A man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous.
The scary part is the way we play here and the Flyers way mantra, they really do not grasp it is losing hockey. Getting all this cap space thinking a top end #1 center will want to come here and play.
I imagine a big quit on Tortorella is coming too. I could see a bottom 4 finish. Maybe the league will give them some lottery luck like they gave Pittsburgh. No confidence they choose right but it would be nice to have. - psuhockey
Hey, as the old proverb states: "it doesn't rain every day".
Don't forget San Jose already has a potential 2C in Will Smith while Chicago has one in Oliver Moore. They are even further behind than some think. - MBFlyerfan
And the Flyers have Jett Luchanko who can be every bit as good if not better than Moore and Smith. And mind you I love Will Smith, he is a local kid from Concord MA. The Flyers need to get a 1C and 1D. Briere acknowledges this and will look to either draft or trade for one or both. Again, what is wrong with this? Rebuilds don't happen overnight. Fletcher left this team and franchise in a complete mess. I believe Torts when he said where they started was not even at the foundation, but at the footers of the foundation. You all have to be patient. Let's see how this off season goes. I believe the Flyers will look very different going into next season.
Yup, Frosty has been freed to unleash an offensive onslaught on the league. Well, for 1 or 2 games anyway before he disappears for a few weeks. How many scoring chances has Farabee failed to convert already in Calgary? They will love him for 2 more years after this one and $10M!

I can't wait for how much you "notice" Pelletier. You are going to have a raging notice for that guy.

The Room Jr ™ may MAY be a 2nd line center IF developed correctly. Looking at the way the flyers develop prospects that is a big if.
What team is willing to trade a 1C or a 1D? What team has 2 1C's or 1D's? What assets do the flyers have to trade to those teams? Why would a team want a draft pick for a top-end position player - that draft pick would be YEARS away from producing any tangible results for the team. Briere has said a lot of things but his actions say the exact opposite
You are correct rebuilds do not happen overnight, but the flyers have not even started rebuilding - they have been retooling since 2012
Keep drinking the koolaid -- by next year at this time you will finally realize that the triumvirate has been lying to you and you will say all the things that are being said by the majority of the posters here

They do not have the goods to trade for a #1 center. None are available to boot. They have not shown the ability to draft a #1 center. They will not be in the mix to draft one unless part of their grand plan comes to fruition. Luck.
Don't forget about free agency for filling that #1 center hole.
All Chucks fault. I love it. Who did Danny intern under?

Then will say give Lappy a chance as coach just be patient. Whatever former Flyers they hire for GM will also be new so patience also will be required.
I don't think we see Risto play again before the 4 Nations Tournament It would make sense for teams not to trade for players in the 4 Nations Tournament until it is completed. I do not believe any players traded so far are playing in the tournament. I could be wrong.
6 games after the tournament to the trade deadline. Hopefully, Briere continues the purge of this roster. The room is tight, too bad it is just not good enough.

If all teams continue adding points at their current pace the Flyers will finish with the 9th pick. The Flyers play Utah-1, Pit-3, Sea-1 and Buf-2. They need to lose all seven of those games.
Overall they have 12 games against teams that are currently in the bottom 12 of the league. It would be nice to lose 10 of those games.
I think they finish 7th overall unless they really do lose 90% of those games.

Completely irrelevant. This trade had notihng to do with what was coming back. This was completely about freeing cap space and getting something, anything back if possible. The Flyers were not going to pay Frost, and with good reason. So getting rid of him now was the right decision. Farabee was completely overpaid for the player he turned out to be, so the Flyers got out from under his $10M+ cap hit, and picked up a 2nd round pick in the process. It was a good trade for both teams. Kuz will make more money in the KHL next year, and Pelletier is a bottom 6 forward that may or may not stick with the Flyers moving forward.

I am fine with the trade. You will not be able to help yourself when it comes to Pelletier though. He is the type of player that you love. Little talent but he tries real hard so the Flyers will extend him.

I think the Flyers will finish with the 6th or 7th pick also, unless of course they get some lottery luck. They could finsih even lower with some additional deadline moves, like moving Laughton. With the picks and players they have I think the Flyers will be able to move up to 3 and get Hagens who is the player they are targeting. Then with the possibility of Luchanko and Bonk joining the team, and Michkov and Andrae with a year under their belts, we will at least have something to look forward to next season. This is one possible path.

I don't think Briere is as gullible as you might think. The Flyers already have a plethora of these types of players.

The Flyers thank you for their support. - furio16
I am going to leave the sarcasm out and try to have a conversation. I think the 1C will most likely come from drafting and developing. There is a possibility of an offer sheet now the Flyers have some cap space (projected $23M next year currently), but I think the chances of this are low. The potential 1D could come from a trade. The Flyers have some defensive assets and picks to move in exchange for a young prospect that has a 1D ceiling. For example, Clarke from LA if the Kings decide their window is now and they go for it.

Briere signed them, then resigned them, and refused to trade the one that his previous boss extended -- having 4 players on your roster, that are not high end talent types makes one think that the gm might not be the smartest man in the room, or at the very least he is a tad bit gullible

You are delusional imo.
What defensive assists do they have with any real value? Bonk is all. You claims this is now a weak draft so those late 1st may not have the value you want them to have.
Draft and develop that #1 center. Have zero faith they can identify such player where they will pick and zero faith they can develop one.
