So, it looks like Gavin McKenna is the plan going forward?

Drysdale will not bring anything back of substance. Andrae is the same...
- Flyfly

Drysdale has value since right handed defenseman are at a premium. They would get more with Bonk right now probably which shows how much Drysdale value has fallen.

This is not a generational draft class, and the first drop off in talent is projected to be around the 8th pick (according to Les Cohen). So if you are holding the 3rd pick and you are offered another 1st round pick or a roster player to move down 3 spots and still get a player with equal talent, I think its at least possible.
- jd250

No one is moving down just for picks. Teams at the top of draft the like the Flyers need the best possible player they can get and the draft drops after 4.

Straight up maybe a couple of 2nds. He’s probably still thought of a reclamation project for non analytics based teams which is most of the league. He would definitely have to be in a package to get any real value from trading him.

There are a few teams desperate for right handed defensemen. Anaheim and Buffalo to name a couple. Anaheim would obviously be out on Drysdale but I wonder if the Flyers could sell Drysdale to the Sabres if they resign Byram since they were partners at the world juniors. My guess is both teams would want Bonk instead.

Does he block shots? (preferably with his face)

Play a 200 Ft game?

Play the right way?

Committed to defense over offense?

Can he chip it off the glass?

Can he dump and chase?

Is he willing to be offensively castrated for the good of team defense?

These are the questions that all must be in the affirmative for the flyers to draft him

I think he has actually been pretty good since he came back from injury. He's been flying. He looks like the player people though he was with his skating.

First people that need to get moved are Risto and Laughton.

I think Drysdale is a piece for the future with the right partner.

Utah wins tonight and they pass the Flyers in points. One step closer to a top 5 pick.

Also can still see Buffalo(47) cathing them. Anaheim is only 2 points behind. Seattle could catch them if they don't sell off players at TDL.

A nice ten game losing streak and they can get into the top 5.

Doesnt matter if they improved the team. They were assets that could have been moved for draft capital or a younger player. Moving those players would have also opened up a spot for a player actually DRAFTED by the flyers to see what those players can actually bring to the table at the NHL level.

None of that matters. You werent getting anything worth mentioning for PH or Hathaway. There is no NHL prospect for these guys. Its a low pick with low odds to be a NHL player. Roster spot is also irrelevant. We are not developing 4th line players. We need guys we drafted to be better than that. Hathaway will still get moved just not this season. You dont want young players playing 7-8 mins a night.

Im not saying they shouldnt have moved them but its not a big enough deal to care about. Who are they blocking? Rizzo? Abols? Richard? Who cares? You want someone like Tuomaala in a top 9 position.

Seeler matters because Andrae should be in the lineup. Konecny matters because you could have gotten a real prospect and 1st. Maybe then you dont give up on Farabee. If they re-sign Kuz, I will not be thrilled. The only way I can be ok with an extension is if its short term and a contract you can fully bury in the AHL. That way he isnt blocking anyone.

Agreed. At the end of the day for me, Poehling is 4th C and Cates 3rd C. No need for Laughton on a 3 mill deal. Risto needs to go because there is a big chance someone is ready to make the jump. Flyers got some young D who are going to be battling for spots next year in McDonald, Grans, Bonk and maybe Ginning. We already need a spot to keep Andrae up. I heard real good things about Bonk and that he may not spend a lot of time in the AHL. Im actually excited to see our future D

Andrae-Bonk

If the stars align maybe we can get Schaefer. Would require a lottery win IMO

I think he is going number one. I heard comparisons to Doughty.

I could see Hagens dropping a little like Wright did. Right now I see Schaeffer and Martone top 2.

I would like one of Misa or Hagens. That is why Flyers need to get into top 5 to maybe get a shot at one of them.

To me it is a deal to care about because I do not like being lied to or taken as a fool. they say one thing and their actions are in direct conflict of what they say. That is infurating to me. gh, rp, NC and The Room™ are all the same player. When carrying 3 goalies (another brilliant decision mind you) that is a third of your forwards -- and not one of them brings a ton offensive skill to the table -- that is pure stupidity on the teams part.

I want to see what players the team actually drafted can do in the NHL .

Where was Datsyuk drafted? Zetterberg? Lundquist? Benn? Hellybuyck? Pavelski? A pick is a chance to hi a homerun - and realistically if the team can draft they will easily find bottom line plugs to fill out their roster that way

I would be shopping right now before his no trade protections start. He is playing well, going to 4 nations. Still producing points.

The Flyers are going to be bad next year two. No matter what they say this is a multi year fix. I would try to get a solid package to help build my new core to move forward.

You’re right about one thing. Flyers can’t even draft/ develop a 4th line player. Embarrassing.

Are more draft picks better than less draft picks?

Ginning is not in the picture. Hunter is far away from being in the NHL if he even makes it. Grans is the Ollie on defense.

They will sign or trade for a vet or 2 so there will be no path for Bonk next season which is fine. AHL will be good for him.

You forgot Risto and Seeler in your defense equation.

Found this elsewhere:

Not sure if anybody watched Bob M mid season review but he said there waive of talent drop around 8 and then another around 15-20. The other thing he said is the 2nd rounders in this draft are your typical 3rd rounders
