Not a Flyers fan, but how bizarre is the logic here? If we move him now it leaves a hole because internal replacements aren't ready.

Who cares! This roster isn't making the playoffs this season. Or next season. It may be years. So do you resign Risto and want him on your team when the window opens in 5 to 7 years? Of course not. He has some value now. Move him. You will finish bottom 5 with or without him.

How can I see that clearly as an outsider but the people covering the team don't grasp this?

et the gm and coach tell the fans they they understand that they are not ready to compete - and then say stupid poop like that

Considering their lineup and place in the standings now I can't think of a good reason to not dress Nic Deslauriers every game going forward

Where are people getting Risto's value as a 1st.

Let's recap some comparables:

Chychrun - 3rd plus Nick Jensen
Sergachev - Moser, Geekie, 2nd, 7th
Marino + 5th - 2nd, 2nd

Guys like Karlsson or Dougie Hamilton included 1sts. But Risto isn't in that category. If you get a 2nd + 3rd, or 2nd + prospect or younger roster player you take that.

None of those guys were coached up by shawsie

He has clearly been a failure.

Look at the culture he built though. Guys been around a long time and he does not think he has had a better room before. That is what it is all about

At least they didn’t get shut out. Such a boring brand of hockey. Torts seems to have neutered Michkov as he’s barely visible out there now. A losing hockey team with no excitement is impossible to watch.
- mikeyo27

Agreed! Most games earlier in the season were somewhat fun to watch, especially with Michkov. The games lately have been brutal, even though Hartnell thought they played a great game last night. Ersson played a great game, but that's about it.

Ha! Nic D was fine last night and will probably fill in on occasion, but he will not play much once the new cupcakes get here and Pails/Tipper are back.

If you can't build a successful team on the ice, building a great team off the ice is the next best thing. Now all they need to do is broadcast the locker room instead of the game so we can get some more Tortorella culture 24/7.

So tired of watching the Torts brand of hockey. Unfairly boring and unimaginative blah on the ice.

Torterella plays losing brand of hockey. The Flyers way is a losing brand of hockey. The organizational approach to trying to fix this is terrible. Anyone who thinks this management group and coaches will figure this out and get them on a path to winning I wish you luck.

Imagine Danny thinking a top end free agent would want to play on this team for this coach. Unless all they want is the money is the Flyers best hope in that department.

Somewhere in that Lockeroom a player said good effort boys.

Thought Tippet was on Utah all the top part of the nets that were missed.

The AHL team has pretty much nothing to offer in terms of "hope". Not one sure fire NHL level player on that roster. Which after being bad for so long is a disgrace.

Again, there is no plan. No way forward as they continue to spin their wheels.

Maybe the Frost/Farabee trade was about the tank and not so much cap space. Regardless, a prolonged losing streak maybe Torts goes, Flyers get a top 3 pick, and we get something worthwhile starting next year.

Torts tops the list of the NHL player poll for coaches they would least like to play for at 38.46%

2nd place is Bruce Cassidy at 12.31%

I believe that in a sense as many players on this roster would not get the opportunities they get here elsewhere.

The question I have is how many players need to be extended to keep this "culture", which is not one of winning. The results prove that statement. The reality is Couts as captain is going to be here a long time based upon his contract. He will take a bottom six center spot for many years. How much help does a captain need to maintain a standard? TK as an alternate captain is signed long-term. Already re signed Hathaway and Seeler, which are team guys. Speaking about Laughton at this point is beating a dead horse. There are some good pieces on the roster, but at most 6 players out of a lineup of 18 players. Not even including Couts as part of the six, but again he will be here because of the contract. Briere has a lot to do with the roster to reshape it. The CAL trade needs to be the beginning not the highlight of the roster purge. As important, major coaching changes need to happen.

I am not as sold he goes upstairs. Just not his nature to sit around. Back to TV as he loves the spotlight.

What would be funny is he becomes GM and Danny goes.

"Honestly, I wouldn't even mind Winnipeg,” he said. “It's not that nice, but I just hate Philly. I just hate Philly. I can't stand it. I can't stand the city, everything. It's the rink. It's just one city that I absolutely despise. I can't stand it. I'd be sick if I got traded there. If I had a one-team no-trade list, they'd be on it in a second."
