I think Tortorella is gone after this year but I don’t think it’s going to be Shaw. He’s turning 61. It’s going to be someone they can sell to the season ticket holders because they will have nothing else to sell next season and will likely be bad again.

I don’t think Briere and Jones are particularly good at their jobs but they at least understands how to market to the fanbase.

Well, I have to tell you the Flyers fanbase is not well represented on this forum. The sentiment is very different outside of this forum.

I say this all the time. This board is definitely a minority when it comes to the opinion of Torts and where this franchise is headed.

Kuzmenko and Pelletier will not play tonight. Only the Flyers can trade for players and not get them out of Canada to player for a multitude of reasons. I'm fine with it. I am firmly in securing the highest draft pick possible. Getting to pick 4th overall is still very much in play. Take your time boys, no rush see you after the 4 Nations Tournament. Just stay in Toronto a few more days, it is a fine city to hang out and relax.

All this because now even though the paperwork is done, the flight from Toronto to Philly got postponed due to weather. Ya see, this is where the Flyers fail. Yes there is some weather, but knowing it was coming, and again, this comes from a team that professes to be the gold standard and wants to be a destination, why then would the Flyers not plan accordingly and send a chartered jet to pick up their new players? That’s what a gold standard team would do. But Jones and Danny and Hilf are obviously NOT the gold standard.

Regardless…

Definitely... does not make one right and the other wrong. Still on team tank today or did Torts say something in the presser to change your mind again?

Sullivan did great when Crosby and others were at their peak. Q was at his best when Toews and Kane were at their best.

What makes a good coach to me is someone who can keep their head above water when they do not have all that great talent. Currently Sullivan is doing just as well as Torts is even though Sullivan has the better talent.

- WhiskeyMan

Nobody wins without talent and it’s debatable that the penguins have more than the Flyers. Outside of Crosby they have junk and way pass their prime players.

It is true that internet flyers fans are different than season ticket holders and casuals but I know a ton of them and they all think this years team is a giant crapshow and perhaps it’s time for Torts to go. They were non pleased with the ticket price increases as well since the product this year has been hot garbage and doesn’t look great going forward.

Actually Torts had a great presser today. He admitted that he made a mistake by not playing Michkov in the 3rd period the other night, which I thought was a big step for him. But no, nothing has changed on my opinion. The Flyers have put all of their eggs into this draft, and teams are gearing up for what is projected to be a deeper draft in 2026. Thus the Flyers need to tank hard to maximize at least their picks, and try to use the other picks they have in trades. Risto, Laughton and Poehling (if he recovers in time) should be traded at this deadline so free up more cap space open up more spots for some Phantoms.

Russ Cohen today had an interesting observation as to why the Flyers brought up Ginning instead of Grans, who is the better defenseman. He thinks the Flyers brought up Ginning because he is a physical defenseman and they are seeing if he can fill in the spot for Risto, so that may be an indication Briere is looking to move Risto. One thing he also brought up is a Grans is a RFA next year so the Flyers need to be careful and should look to bring him back up soon.

My two good buddies are STH along the glass. Killer seats right behind the net and they are getting sick and tired of Torts and the Triumvirate.

One texted me after the Avs game asking me when Torts is getting canned b/c this garbage can't go on. Small sample I know but fans that are educated seem to be turning more and more.

They really gave Ginning a long look didn’t they? He does not factor into any future plans at all.

Personally, I don't see much from Grans. Either way they need to move Risto if a 1st is available. He is not part of the future.

Glad Torts admitted he was an a$$ for benching MM39 but you were supporting his benching. Maybe Torts should have a bit more emotional fortitude during games and not overreact.

Well, first they should have realized that the product would take a step back this year, Briere, Jones and Torts all repeated this message throughout the off season. Secondly the ticket price increase was $3/game, is that correct? If so, tell them to suck it up, its not that bad if they want to be season ticket holders.

Overall attendance from last season is up 0.1% from last season. I do believe there was excitement on Michkov starting his NHL career to start the season. I do wonder if that excitement is still as high with how the season has played out. I really do not know. Does a HC move the needle as far as fan excitement over players? I tend to side with players have much more impact, but I would like to hear the other side HCs can have a significant impact also.

This is where I disagree. The Triumvirate may have been saying we will take a step back but I would bet my house they thought this team could compete for a playoff spot.

To be clear, I support sitting Michkov every 4 games or so depending on the schedule, to give him time to get used to the NHL season. Anaheim did this last year with Carlsson and I think it worked out well for him. I am also in favor of sitting Michkov for a few shifts up to a period if he deserves it, and there have been times this year where I think he has deserved it. But I am not in favor of sitting him more than that. If he dresses for a game, he should play regardless of the score or stage of the game.

No, I don't agree. The message has been clear and consistent, i.e. we are not adding to this team because we don't have the cap space, and the goal of this year was to continue to develop and evaluate the players on this team. That is exactly what they have done.

That is incorrect. Price increases were not uniform throughout the arena. Certain seat prices are that low as opposed to tickets lower level near the ice increasing $52/game. Comcast can do what they want, up to the consumer to pay or not certainly. They will lose some season ticket holders with current team trajectory. I do not think it is a coincidence Briere and insiders are speculating the Flyers will do something big this summer. Makes sense to generate excitement.

$3 was the lowest. Other seats were more. As far as sucking it up, hockey still relies on the gate more so than any of the other big four sports. Season ticket holders have a lot of sway. There’s a reason the 18 months to compete came out and Briere is going to go big in the offseason stories are starting to come out too. The season ticket holders are not happy about the increase with what they have seen on the ice. It’s not just that they are losing but it’s boring.

Exactly, so as of right now Sullivan is as good as Torts and Torts only has TK. Would Torts have a better record if he had Crosby?
