well if it generates enough revenue and the owners are happy about it then it could be something they're willing to live with I guess... it's either that or the ultra-boring all-star formula where nobody gets hurt ever.

Thats the point, from the point of view of the owners, the all stars game is much safer.

If a team end up missing the playoffs because of an injury that could of been avoided, that team will miss out on a poop load of $$$$ at the gates. Teams make their profits with the gates during the playoffs.

I am sure they are equally as worried when their players go to the All Star game.

good point, perhaps some GMs/owners are less okay with it than others, I dunno. but as a hockey fan I'm just glad they're playing "real" hockey and not that pond stuff and the skills competition.

Oh as a fan yes, but to be honest, when mtl was in the god damn mix, I was happy Caufield and suzuki were not picked even if I think both of them could and probably should have made Team USA and team Canada.

I get what you're saying. personally I would've liked to see them there even if they were in the mix, of course it sucks if they get hurt but it would be cool seeing them play in the tournament, it's just a risk to live with.
