In all seriousness the concept of Mashadar is pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing.

is the TV series worth watching? I remember watching only the 1st episode and found it a bit boring, so I'm guessing it might get better further in the episodes.

I'm guessing the books are better, as usual lol.

I get why they didn't, but I really wish they had spent more time in Shadar Logoth and what was there it in the first season.

That being said, season 3 trailer came out yesterday out and it looks (frank)ing visually stunning.

Well, here is my honest opinion.

As a non-book reader, which I imagine you are, you will be fine. The last few episodes of season 1 kinda suck balls - they had to re-write a while lot of poop on the fly and did not have time for proper CGI because of COVID and 1 critical actor leaving the show.

They fixed most of that in season 2, and the story / acting was way better, the effects were a lot better, even if season 2 kinda had a corny end in the last 5 minutes.

But the character story lines were a lot more compelling..

If you can get past the last 1 and 1/2 episodes of season 1, then you are good.

Kate is not a book reader and not really into Fantasy, but she liked it.

Most of my other friends thought it was OK, but I think they were sort of tainted with their own expectations as book readers.

yeah, this kind of thing happens a lot with TV/movie adaptations, they don't always follow the source material.

same situation happened with the Witcher, I hadn't read the books but I still thought the last season sort of stank, as they deviated too far away from the original writing.

The books... they are good, but bloated with 100s of character - instead of 15 books, the story probably could have been told in 5.

The show follows the spirit of the books, but is different... has to be different.

I am OK with the changes they have made so far, as it is in line with the greater narrative of the books, cutting out a lot of the bloating/merging characters, but also adding lore that was perhaps alluded to in the books to help non-book readers understand some stuff better and / or plot points down the road.

It will take a long investment to read all the books + the prequel.

When a new book was about to came out, I use to read every previous one first.

Became quite a takes, as each books is in the last book is 700-1100 pages long.

The Wheel of Time series is considered a mammoth tale that took two authors 20 years to complete. The series has a word count of more than 4.4 million words.

I also re-read the whole series one last time in 2023/24.

Took me over a year of casual reading.

You could also do the Sanderson cosmere books and series... he is not even close to being fished the whole thing and it is already larger than TWOT - more books / words - with new things out virtually every year.

Dude is insane.
