Oh come on, they played in the NHL last year but both were marginal. Both have taken significant steps forward this year. - jd250
Cates was marginal player his rookie year with 38 points? He was hurt last year then came on a little at the end. He was always an NHL level player.
Brink was a rookie and showed some promise.
As someone said they are bottom of the lineup players.

Flyers disagree. They been touting this draft class for a long while as franchise altering. - furio16
I know and this is unfortunate because it would appear they have put a lot of their chips in this draft class. It was projected to be good a couple of years ago but apparently based on everything I have read is not as good as it was projected to be. Still, if the Flyers draft high there are a few players that the Flyers would be happy to get, especially Hagens. But also, Frondell (good two way center with a killer shot) and Michael Misa who is a scoring machine. Any of these players has the potential to develop into a really good NHL 1C. Pry Clarke away from LA who may not want to wait and go on a run now, and now you got the makings of a good young core. |

If you knew anything about this draft class, which you clearly don't, there is high end talent (not generational) in the first 6 or so picks. Then there is a drop off to very good talent until about pick 15, and then there is another drop off. It's a weaker draft, but that doesn't mean there are not good players to be selected. - jd250
You said this was a weak draft class -- you are insufferably stoopid |

That's a dumb question, how do ypu expect to be better
losing hart to jail or soon to be most likely does that make the team better?
Trading a top 4 defenseman for a 1st rd pick make the team better right now
Like I don't care who the coach is when you take good players away and don't replace them you gonna get worse.
Do you think if we had our team the same from beginning last season till the end of the season we make the playoffs, i do.
Wake up and smell the b.s. you saying
The flyers made themselves even worse trading frost and bee away, and that's good in increases our picks.
But yet you still complain - SlNlSTER
So why do they stop short of trading off more players? Laughton and Risto specifically. Why are they still here? According to reports teams want them. We are not going anywhere this year. Laughton is easily replaced in house. Risto size is not at the moment. Everything else he does is. Why are they still here?
When neither is moved at the TDL will you acknowledge that what you are stating is BS? Playoffs should not be the goal for this team. It should not have been the goal for the last three seasons honestly.
They are already losing why can't they just get better at it and get the high end talent they need?

I think Cates can be an excellent 3C for sure, that can replace Laughton both on the ice and off the ice. Brink can also be a nice 3rd line winger. Given he was drafted in the 2nd round and had significant skating issues, if he can be a viable 3rd line winger that can play up in the lineup when needed, that is good value for a 2nd round pick. |

Hence the reason teams were so willing to give up picks in this draft.

The Flyers need a 1C and 1D that can compliment Michkov and join the other players in the system the Flyers have like Luchanko and Bonk. |

They do not have enough assets or skilled players to get any high end talent from any team in the league |

Then they really do not have good young core at this time. Agreed.
I have next to no faith in the Flyers getting those 2 pieces. Especially in the draft. |

Michkov, Luchanko, 2 firsts. Does that get it done?
Doughty is 35, they are not trading Clarke.

Honestly, what do the Flyers have to offer to get Clarke? Maybe a top 5 pick in this draft. That doesn't get you close I don't think. Nobody wants the other firsts or seconds we have this year as the main part of a deal to trade Clarke.
Flyers aren't landing anything major via trade unless they include Michkov or to a lesser extent TK or Sanheim.

Ppl dont look at that as a positive, they say you have to full out tank, then cry the team losing.
Im ok with the way things are going, I have the feeling they really trying to turn over every stone in there prospect pool to see what the have and what they don't have.
I expect 2026 off season be the 1 that we turn the corner - SlNlSTER
IT's been nearly 3 years of evaluations. If they don't know what they have then we have a lot bigger issues. Bonk, at best, will be a 4 and Jett will be a 3C. Outside of those two there really is nothing to evaluate at the moment. Nice players but nothing that is going to be move the needle. |
