Briere on progressing through “rebuilding” and emerging into a “building” phase
“I think it's fair to say, we're in between the two stages, maybe. We’re still evaluating.
Briere on Pelletier’s upside
“He’s only 23 years old and the way they were talking about him in the locker room, that's really impressive at his age, already being so well-liked by his teammates. It's more than that with him
Danny is a putz.

So why do they stop short of trading off more players? Laughton and Risto specifically. Why are they still here? According to reports teams want them. We are not going anywhere this year. Laughton is easily replaced in house. Risto size is not at the moment. Everything else he does is. Why are they still here?
When neither is moved at the TDL will you acknowledge that what you are stating is BS? Playoffs should not be the goal for this team. It should not have been the goal for the last three seasons honestly.
They are already losing why can't they just get better at it and get the high end talent they need? - mickel25
I agree they need to be moved, if not now by the draft.

Then they really do not have good young core at this time. Agreed.
I have next to no faith in the Flyers getting those 2 pieces. Especially in the draft. - furio16
We'll see how the off season goes. I think the Flyers are in the best shape to rebuild than they have been coming into any off season in their history, as long as they continue to sell off pieces at the deadline. If those players are available, they will have the cap space, picks and players to make something big happen. I don't expect both positions to be obtained this off season, but at least one. |

IT's been nearly 3 years of evaluations. If they don't know what they have then we have a lot bigger issues. Bonk, at best, will be a 4 and Jett will be a 3C. Outside of those two there really is nothing to evaluate at the moment. Nice players but nothing that is going to be move the needle. - Flyfly
Jett can easily be a 2C in this league. |

Don't worry, the Flyers are trading Risto for sure, and I think a few other vets also. They are gearing for a team changing off season. - jd250
I sure hope so. |

That's Tort's job, to win games. It's Briere's job to remove the players from the lineup necessary for the team to win games. |

It should be obvious. Fletcher left this team in bad shape both cap wise and player value. It takes time to make the right moves to evaluate players and move out the players you don't think will be part of the future. But then once the decision is made, you need to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along. Briere did a great job last season getting Provorov, Hayes and DeAngelo moved out, especially getting basically 2 1st and 2 2nd round picks for Provorov. He did a great job getting out from under Farabee's remaining contract. Moving on from Frost was long overdue, and as expected Briere swapped Frost for another young player that needed a change of scenery. I suspect Briere will trade Risto this deadline, where Risto's value is the highest. Think as we entered this season some were saying we needed to cover 50% of Risto's salary to move him. Now there is talk that teams will take his remaining contract in full and return a 1st round pick, most likely in 2026. I think Laughton will be moved finally also. With these moves the Flyers will have over $30M in cap space to play with this off season, plus 7 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft. I can't imagine a rebuilding team being in a better spot. - jd250
and 2 salary dumps worth almost $15 million. You always forget to mention the salary dump costs when marvelling about Briere and his trades.

one salary dump turned into a 1st round pick, and the other salary dump was buried, at least partially, in the AHL, and is off the books after this season. So it was an excellent trade. |

What do you want him to say, that the team is going to quit? Tort's job is to get the most out of the players and to do his best to win games. That is what is he is doing. The only slurper here is you, from the hose of absurdity, |

I know and this is unfortunate because it would appear they have put a lot of their chips in this draft class. It was projected to be good a couple of years ago but apparently based on everything I have read is not as good as it was projected to be. Still, if the Flyers draft high there are a few players that the Flyers would be happy to get, especially Hagens. But also, Frondell (good two way center with a killer shot) and Michael Misa who is a scoring machine. Any of these players has the potential to develop into a really good NHL 1C. Pry Clarke away from LA who may not want to wait and go on a run now, and now you got the makings of a good young core. - jd250

Extending plugs? What are you talking about? Yes rebuilding teams keep the players they feel are part of the solution and trade away players that are not. TK is a big part of this team and franchise, and I for one am very happy he is on the team. Again, you fail to understand the difference between rebuilding, and a tear down to the studs tank. |

Yes, maybe ... but if not Clarke, there may be another defenseman that becomes available. |

At what point do the 4 horsemen running this clown show realize the playoffs are a mirage? Hoping to go on a run is flat out ridiculous and to say it out loud even more so.
Any thoughts why EJ is in the lineup and not Grans? |
