Must admit I am a caffeine fiend.

Drink these Ruby Red Monsters lately.

I’ll take gummies sometimes, and have a claw in occasion. But man quitting weed and everything else and focusing on natural highs is pretty (frank)in’ sweet.

I paid >6k today on my drug. A new engine for my sled

To each their own tho. I’m 38 next month, I’m doing whatever I can to enjoy life to the fullest without drugs/alcohol. Cold winter air, pine aerosol in the summer. Sunset, loon calls, northern lights, bonfires. It’s a work in progress, but I feel good.

For an old hippy fart with health issues, I get outdoors often. Hiking, kayaking, and fossil hunting. A good fatty of indica enjoyed on the riverbank out in the middle of nature without a soul around is (*chef's kiss*).

When I get too old and broken down to do those things, I'll probably take up heroin to alleviate the boredom. 😆

It’s not really.

Who knew that Vodka+water+flavour could be the cause of so much misogyny?

Every body of water pond sized or larger probably has gators in it. It's a safe bet to assume that. Even if you don't see any around, they are probably lurking somewhere.

You can't let them deter you or you'll never engage in freshwater sports in Florida. You just have to know their habits, don't engage in riskier behavior, and stay aware of your surroundings. In cooler weather, like now, they aren't very active and they will ignore you. It's mating season in the late spring and summer that you gotta be careful with - they are horny, territorial, and active as (frank).

I read stuff from Florida anglers and am glad the scariest thing in my ponds are snapping turtles. Do people get killed by those (frank)ers?

I love swimming and being in water.....so those gaters would cramp my style.

Damn gators and a Florida man and book burners are always getting in the way of a Florida trip.

About once a year, something tragic happens involving gators. 99% of the time it involves somebody doing something they shouldn't be doing, like walking a dog near the water's edge at dawn or dusk. Considering how many people and alligators there are in close proximity to each other, it's actually a testament to how overblown the danger is. Alligators are just not usually aggressive.

Now, if it was crocodiles, that's another story. People would be dying left and right because they are a lot more aggressive and will actively stalk you. Thankfully, there aren't many crocs around and they are all clustered into the southernmost areas of the state. I wouldn't be out fossil hunting around crocs like I do with gators.

You can swim in the clear spring fed waters - the water is cold all year and it makes them more lethargic compared to gators in warmer lakes and rivers that are fed by drainage basins and not springs. You can at least see them coming.

It's that coffee-black water that is stained dark with tannins that can be a little creepy at times.

For example, the sun is out and overhead, so the dark water is illuminated to a pale tea color and you can see the bottom. Then the clouds roll in and suddenly the clear water turns black and you can't see your feet or legs. Even after all these years, that is a little disconcerting when it happens.

As for the rest of the fashy stuff like book burnings and the like, yeah, I'm tired of it. If I wasn't rooted down here, I'd be moving somewhere else. It also costs a ton of money to move, so....

There was that horrible story a few years ago about the toddler who was killed by one at a Disney resort.

I remember this and it was entirely preventable. Disney should never have let people swim in that "lagoon" and the parents should not have let their kid near the water's edge like that. In the parent's defense, they probably felt safe because they were on Disney property and assumed any dangers were removed or mitigated.

The thing is, you can trap and remove all of the gators. And if that lagoon borders on undeveloped areas, swamps, or other bodies of water, then the gators will always move back in. Always. They can even climb short fences or squeeze through small culverts.Yes, you read that right - (frank)ing alligators can scale fences.

In the warm months (basically 9 months of the year here), don't go near the water's edge at dawn or dusk, and keep your head on a swivel at all times. Don't let dogs or kids splash around in the shallows - that behavior attracts gators.

At the time, Disney had actively been saying they never had any gators in any of their water. Which was obviously false so families/parents/etc thought they were safe.

Needless to say it made the story that much more tragic.
