Rust played the whole game last night, no? I’m very confused how he’s hurt.

I think I remember him taking a tough shot on one of those late PK's. I think it was him.

I distrust Yohe's scouting because too often it's fast=good. But checking his stats that's some nice growth and a righty to boot. I still think they need that top pair stud, but the d pool is looking decent with all four of the guys you mentioned improving their stock this year.

That’s funny because I feel like Yohe is very much an only 200ft players are good type of guy

You’re not new. This happens in hockey all the time. Guys play out the game through force of will/adrenaline/smelling salts what ever and then the next day turns out something’s pulled or torn

I admittedly don't read him much anymore, but after those Cup wins Yohe was all in on speed for a while.

Sully said they don't expect Rust to be out long. They put him on IR because they needed another player tonight and have a 2 week break.

Well he scored a game winner penalty shot the other night.

In the case of both him and Pettersson, I hope they do great in Vancouver. Both good guys and we got a return we should be happy with.

Gryz now having a career year already, and it's only February, is hilarious. Just goes to show we have no idea for sure how things will go.

Players tend to do better surrounded by better players on more competent teams

Wish them nothing but the best and pleased with returns for them as well. It's just crazy to hear that amount of DOC praise all of a sudden hahah....and by people like Kevin Bieksa and Kelly Hrudey to boot.

The bottom left quadrant is called "oh brother these teams stink". It can't be good to be the worst team in that quadrant lol.

Not good at all hahaha this is based on shots off the rush and shots off cycle per 60. It reminded me that the other day on a Sportsnet daytime I was listening to them talking about how I think it was said the last 5 or 6 cup winners were top 5ish in rush defense and rush sv%. Not sure where Pens land in that but I imagine it also isn't pretty the past few seasons haha

Damn. I knew we sucked but I thought we were more mediocre than actually flat out terrible.

When you have a coach who refuses to play to his team's strengths and in fact plays to one of their biggest weaknesses, bad results typically follow. Amazing we are only 6 points worse off than we were this point last season.

This year, the Pens have been propped up by their PP and their PK playing well earlier this season which made them win and seem mediocre lol -- PK has kind of fallen off though.

This roster has no middle class. We have a couple high end players, 1-2 pretty good players, 50 ft of crap, then our bad players.

Even the top line is about break even on what they score v what they give up (though bad defense and goal tending contribute. Rest of the team gets largely slaughtered at ES except Lizotte, Beauvillier, and Karlsson.

Boyd's point is accurate... "what are their strenghts", but I agree they'd be better off playing low event trapping hockey like Marshall suggests. Should have flipped that switch a few years ago at minimum (probably longer). That's how you know Sullivan is long past his sell-by date. He has all the data but can't get his brain around making changes.

IMO, they don't have the pieces to be a good team regardless of the system. Part of that is age of the stars and part of that is bad players. A coaching/system change would have helped them a few years ago. It's futile now.

I ended up getting busy and couldn’t watch the 2nd and 3rd period. Any high level observations on the 3rd line?
