Not currently injured. But his injury impacted how he trained (or didn't train) in the offseason.
Petey yesterday: “Yes, the knee affected me in the summer, my training, but again I’m not going to dwell on it now, or try not to, because it’s not going to do anything for me. Just trying to be better every day - NewYorkNuck[and] get better.”
Yet he played the final few games, when everyone else who had injuries were recuperating. Tocchet at the time appeared unaware of any injury
I think some media and fans have coddled this kid and make excuses for him continually. |

I mean, the injury in question is tendinitis. Which takes a long while of rest/rehab to recover. Someone on Reddit posted a breakdown/research of the same injury in the NBA (more public about injuries) and how long it took players there to recover, and it was typically a year. Taking a few games off wouldn't have any effect.
Not saying this a complete excuse for how he's played, but it adds some context. |

Wheen the coach seemed unaware if this injury, the medical staff must have been pretty quiet about this, not even letting coach know, unless Tocchet was being untruthful about knowing/not knowing about injury.
I am sure a few games off wouldn't have cured the problem, but it sure wouldn't have hurt the knees.
It is almost like this kid is held in such high regard by some, that he is forgiven for everything, from tenditis to locker room dissension. Fingers get pointed, but #40 is never at fault.
Trade the kid, asap. |

This narrative of Tocchet not knowing about the injury is false. Have pointed that out before.
Brendan Batchelor
@BatchHockey
Rick Tocchet says Elias Pettersson had tendinitis. Says they discussed his status with the medical staff, but he never needed to be shut down or rested. #Canucks @Sportsnet650

If a few games off wouldn't have cured it or hurt it (in your words), then what does it matter if he played or rested? Sees like you've answered that one yourself.
He's not forgiven for everything. No one is absolving him from all the blame. He needs to play better. He knows that. Management knows that. The fans know that. But there are reasons as to why he isn't playing up to his potential – some of it he's accountable for. Like Brock when his father was dying.. there are things that affect your game, and some people can see that and put that into the equation.
Anywho, will be interesting to see what Petey looks like with the 4 Nations. Should be a good jolt for him. |

The quote by Batchelor was in May, well after Tocchet had made a quote, near end of season, when others that were injured, got rested. He was doing an interview in which he said something along the lines of #40 not having any injury issues.
Moving on before this gets rehashed over and over, the 4 nation's thingy isn't really something I am interested in, but I may watch Canada games. |

What is lost in the semantics is the difference between an injury and an ailment. RT first said he’s not injured because why would an injured player play and not rest. Easy he’s got an ailment which hampers elite offensive performance but doesn’t improve with short term rest. Most likely learning to play through it was the reasoning back then.
EP40 didn’t nor did he find the way to train around it effectively enough. That’s on him. But all this BS about not caring or trying or being washed up is just hater slogans to push their narrative.
EP40 may recover from the head games and improve his offense for the remainder of the season. However, to be elite, which was the bet on him contract wise, he needs to train in a way that improves his lower body strength. Plus do so that he’s able to explode off his first strides. Maybe the timing with the tendinitis recovery, you mentioned, being a year coincides with that regimen.
Now will he stay a Canuck to do better is another question. Management will not hesitate to shuffle the deck if they find the right deal. Their untouchable is QH and making a team that compels him to extend.
Yes, the same Norris winning, top in his very early prime, Heart like, QH the moronic haters wanted traded or playing wing because he’s not a defender. Emotions have many opinions but they are alien to facts.
Anyway, the saga continues we will hear no end to it this season. |

No, it's not. No one does that; no one completely forgives this kid. Even the most staunch Petey supporters admit he's gone stretches where he's been invisible and not played well. And his contract further exacerbates things.
The reality is a handful of posters - like yourself - lean so far on the opposite side - that you can't see any positives from his game, ever - hence the daily "trade him asap" bullsh!t that you spew.
It's not happening. The kids are here to stay. Sh!tting all over him every 2nd post ain't gonna change anything or convince anybody to jump on your miserywagon. |

Thanks for confirming, we'll after when Tocchet claimed that #40 didn't have an injury when he was sitting injured players out, near the end of regular season |
