Obviously as long as you're still throwing new blogs on here a decent number of us will show up to read them. It should be pretty clear to anyone though that this site could easily disappear any day and simply never come back.

Blankinen to go against Sweden tomorrow, if it all goes well I'm concerned his next contract might be out of reach.

Yes no matter how good Demko can be, at some point need to consider a goalie that can handle the load. I know it's just one season, but Lankinen has proven it at least to me.

Hopefully he keeps himself just cheap enough for Van to re-sign him

Trade Demko and bring up Silovs or whoever's playing the best in Abbotsford this year and give Demko's money to Lankinen. It's not rocket science, the chances of Demko being able to be the money goalie he was last year until his injury is unlikely and Lankinen seems to be durable and good enough to hold down the fort.

Agree to trade Demko and give Lanky his money, but not Silovs yet.
The Canucks are great at mining backup goalie gems, so continue to do that. Sign the next Lanky / Desmith for the backup / 1B role for next season and then resign him if needed or see what Silovs has to offer then.

Demko has 0 value on the market right now, I can't think of a good reason to trade him. I think it's worth keeping him around next year to see if he can get back on track over the summer, plus you'll still have the option to trade him next TDL. There is enough cap space to sign Lankinen at 4-5 AAV and keep Demko.

That's pretty much the contract I was suggesting a week or 2 ago. I would prefer 3 years to 4 personally. I don't know if he's the guy long term.

Mike Tanev said in contract negotiations Jim Benning said Chris Tanev was as soft as baby poop

Mike told the agent to tell Benning:

"I'm old enough to remember when Benning played for the Leafs and he used to go in the corner with 12 eggs and come out with 13"

Paying a starting goalie 5$mil or under is an absolute steal!

Lank is gonna be 30 soon. He's in his 5th pro year and has consistently put up great numbers even on terrible teams.

He's never played a full season/workload but seems like he can handle it.

Also, worth noting that he's never been injured. Demko got another year under contract, could be a massive trade asset if timed right - but he HAS to regain his form.

3 years - 15m sounds decent to me.
He might want longer term i suspect.

Darn, you'll be greatly missed.

But credit where credits due - you haven't posted a "sh&t on petey" post in what, coming up on 5 hours!! Congrats! You've gone Cold turkey!

BTW, would it cool if we voted on a new name? "The Society" is kinda bland, we'd love a chance at a cooler name.

True.
It is a bit lacking in latent homophobia or misogyny.
I'm frankly disappointed in the lack of creativity.

I have never once seen when you go on your breaks someone say Where's Brooksie, Nada Never.

I mean how old are you? If you re a grown man and get upset and feel the need to attack everyone that says Petey's contract is sh1t then you have some serious mental problems.

4X4.5$ would be dino-mite

Lank has been praising goalie coach Marko Torenius all year.

One area I have total faith is our goalie development. We have some decent prospects in Tolopilo, Koskenvuo, Young. Not sure if Silovs is gonna turn it around and get some consistency in his game? But he has proven he can be a solid goalie - hopegully it wasn't a once-off.

OR acquiring another backup hasn't been an issue.
