Good career number though...

988 gms. 360 g, 448 a, 808 pts, +88

EP is on track to shatter Seguin's numbers.

- bloatedmosquito

But if you look at his numbers after he signed his 9.85 million dollar deal and started to deal with injuries in 2019/20, he had the 9th highest salary in the league that year, his numbers are this...

316 Gms - 98 goals - 125 assists - 223 points, +4

The point of all this is Dallas didn't just fade away because they had a guy taking up too much cap and not producing. Is it ideal, of course not, but they're still a highly competitive team despite having a couple guys not earning their respective pay checks.

Maybe, but you're missing the point if that's what you're focusing on. I can come up with many many examples of second tier guys who've had off years. Some of them never recovered, but most of them did.
- Pacificgem

I believe you are missing the point, this kid is being paid as a top 5 player in the league, which is supposed to be top tier, yet he isn't even top 5 on Sweden, hence why he was consider the #12 forward on that team in Swedens final game and was used as the 9th forward in the other games.
This kid appeared to get benched yesterday, shortly after a minor scrum, in which he looked at the scrum, then turned the other way.
Not a type of player I would think you would be advocating to have on one of your favourite teams.

So McAvoy is out for Thursday, M. Tkachuk has something and so does Brady, Matthews has a sore back.

After the way US started the last game, I hope that every Canadian player takes note and targets those injury specific areas, don’t be dirty about it, but make every encounter hurt and hurt bad.

That was my point you complete moron.

Highly paid players have down years now and again. What part of that are you not getting? I just gave another example, Tyler Seguin, who was a very highly paid player in the league and he didn't live up to his contract, yet the Dallas Stars are still a very successful team and Cup favorites.

Canadians are going to be out for blood, not actual blood, but in the form of goals...lots of them. I'd put money on them coming together and winning.

I am hoping for that also, although I really really liked the tone sent their last game, I wonder if the US might have stirred up a little rage and determination in the Canadian players.

I will smile if there are top notch players out longer term with nagging injuries, that would really piss off the “this is a money grab spectacle crowd”.

I think Canada out plays them over the game. I hope the difference in between the pipes doesn't cost Canada the game.

I don't trust him for a second. I also don't care if Hill hasn't played a game yet - put him in - he's a pro, he can handle it.

Ouch

I don't get how you can flip-flop from year to year about how you are only concerned about what Canucks do, but here we are with you defending the Canucks for grossly overpaying a 2nd tier player that has been struggling for over a year now, with no end in sight for his struggles.

I hope that Hagel, Bennett and Parayko challenge them during warm-up.

I'm not defending his contract at all, I never even inferred that, those are your words. I'm simply saying good players have down years on occasion, which you're seeing with Pettersson this season and last playoffs. He also hasn't been struggling for a full calendar year, those claims have been proven false, but we keep talking about it.

Did he just get bad all of a sudden, highly unlikely, is he injured to the point he probably won't recover, again, unlikely, but that's possible. As I've said, they have to gamble on him recovering his health and his game.

Drew Doughty is another example of a guy who's highly paid and had a couple down years, now he's seems to have recovered his game and the Kings are still good.

The hysteria on the Canucks being good only if Pettersson is a top five player in the league is laughable. I hope he recovers his game, but if he doesn't, all hope is not lost.

We’re Canadians, politest people in the world. Probably stay away from those guys, as we wouldn’t want to hurt them.
I hope Sammy stinky gloves both Tkachuks just to see if they’re ready to play.
Goaltending should be the only thing that’s keeps Canada from winning. 🏆

Well said - "slow clap"

I dont understand the all or nothing mentality. Like "he 26yrs, he'll never ever be good again, trade him NOW, regardless of everything." It's mental.

It's either slurper or hater in here - when realistically, there's valid arguments on either side and a massive middle groud that a lot of people glaze over, no matter how relevant the stats/evidence presented.
