5. It’s ridiculous to pause the game mid-season and have the best players in the league risk injury to play in a meaningless tournament.

Canada doesn't have very good goalies, whereas the USA squad is very deep. I am from Canada, but expect USA to win.

I am not watching this pointless tournament, but team USA will win.

Pulling for Canada, but the US should win this. The 5th best US goalie would start for Canada. They selected Sam Montembeault as the 3rd stringer FFS.

We serve an old moan in a dry season
A lighthouse keeper in the desert sun
Dreamers of sleepers and white treason
We dream of rain and the history of the gun
There's a lighthouse in the middle of Prussia
A white house in a red square
I'm living in films for the sake of Russia
A Kino Runner for the DDR
And the fifty-two daughters of the revolution
Turn the gold to chrome
Gift...nothing to lose

Eagles win the Super Bowl. Pitchers and Catchers reporting soon. 4 Nations. Incompetent Flyers loving it as they will fly under the radar and out of the news.

Canada should have selected Logan Thompson for one of their goalies

Apparently Kuzmenko is an expected trade candidate. Makes sense for a guy on an expiring contract. Get what you can for him.

I agree. At least include him as the third goalie. Selecting Montembeault because he's represented Canada before and is a Hab was not a smart move.

For those Luchanko haters:

Jett Luchanko (C, Guelph Storm)

The Flyers' 2024 first-round pick played an outstanding offensive game on Saturday despite a wild 10-7 loss by Luchanko's Guelph Storm club to the Saginaw Spirit. Guelph trailed 5-0 and were outshot 20-6 through the first period. Amid the multiple comeback bids by Guelph, 18-year-old team captain Luchanko scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season while setting up taillies by Ryan McGuire and Charlie Paquette. Luchanko won 15 of 22 faceoffs and managed to finish on the positive side of the plus/minus ledger despite the deluge of goals from the opposing club.

In 27 games played this season for Guelph, Luchanko has averaged 1.33 points per game (15 goals, 21 assists, 36 points). Keep in mind that the Storm (15-27-7) are a rebuilding team at the bottom of the Western Conference. Despite missing 22 of Guelph's 49 games played to date, Luchanko is second on the team in points and by far the team's points-per-game leader.

All star games in physical sports like hockey and football have never made sense to me. Doing this silly season 4 nations tournament makes even less sense to me. First problem, it's mid season and players are trying to stay healthy and win games to make the playoffs and even go on a deep run for the Cup. What do they care about this 4 nations tourney? Secondly, the players are not even being compensated for winning the tourney, so they have no incentive. Thirdly, they are leaving out a portion of the NHL by not allowing Russia and other countries to be represented. And finally, this event is not sanctioned by the IIHF, so it really mean nothing. I might watch the finals but otherwise, I will find something else to do this week. If the NHL wants to for once do something right, make sure all countries are represented and have it during pre-season, similar to what baseball has done. Then players will have incentive to play and win for their country.

No one hates the kid -- they hate the fact that the team passed on a very good player who has the tools to be a 1D, The Room Jr™ is likely to be a slightly more offensive The Room™
