And how is this relevant to tariffs on Canada, to pick an example? You may recall that there is a free trade agreement with Mexico/US/Canada. Signed (renegotiated) by ..gee, Trump 45!
There was never any truth on all this "unfairness in world trade etc." The reason, for example, that Japan sells more cars in the US and US sells few in Japan is not because of tariffs or restrictions (there are none towards US cars in Japan). It is because Japanese cars are better.
The US set up the world trading system. It competed and in many cases, lost fair and square.
It now wants to rig the rules to cheat because it is strong and powerful. That is all there is to it. - PT21
This I do agree with….Trump himself called the 2018 “new NAFTA” agreement the greatest trade agreement ever…funny what 6 year will do.

It is nice to see everyone again. I was hoping for some superbowl tawk, but I guess I am late.
Here is a parting thought: remember when Andy Reid used to refuse to run the ball? Well, we owe a big thank you to that Andy, because the Fat Man did zactkly that. The running back had 3 carries before the game got out of hand. It was only 10-0 midway through the 2nd though and still very much within hand. But the trends were clear.
The ends were pinning their ears back and rushing. Btw, very good gap control, esp by tackles. Mostly bull rushes, not wide angle rushes like Redd1ck which left running lanes. But the linebackers were deep, playing in front of the cover 4, cutting off passing lanes.
Some sweeps? Some under center snaps and handoffs? Doesn't matter if you get 3 yards a carry! A few of those and linebackers creep up and then guys like Kelze hve bigger zones to attack.
But nah. The guy died on his sword. He stuck to his strategy. Mahomes was gonna beat the 4 man rush and do his Houdini stuff and find impossible windows, again and again and again. In love with his own myth, and the Mahomes myth. In site of the fact that you see Mahomes starting to jitterbug from the second he has the ball in his hand: clear signs of a very rattled qb.
Thanks Andy! And time's yours!
See y'all in a few months? |

America first. Great concept and he is following through on it. People don't like it, oh well. That is part of why he was elected.
The 51st state stuff is hysterical. He constantly throws thing out there for the reaction. More times than not he gets said reaction. He probably laughs his ass off seeing the responses. Funny thing is what could Canada even do if the USA wanted/took Canada.
When all is said and done, he will go down as one of the greatest presidents. At least in my opinion. - Striiker
To Canadians, the threat of being taken over by the US is not a laughing matter, nor should jokes be made about it. He is disrespecting a whole country with his comments. |

You need to actually research before making a Comment like this….no I don’t like him, but that stems from his pandering to the far left while ignoring trade and commerce…it’s great you want to provide free dental now to everyone, as I’m sure every country would….but then don’t cry poor on the world stage and fail to live up to the agreements our governments of the past made…..continually taxing the living shiit out of people while allowing our health care system to become falter to new lows.
Canada used to be about a hand up….now it’s about hand outs.
Do I think a trade war is stupid for both sides? Yes I do, but now as you put it, the economic screws are in deed being turned and the guy that’s been in charge for the last decade has allowed us to be put here….thats what we get for electing a drama teacher with a political name. - landros 2
Your point seems to be that Trudeau was too socialist. Fine. But besides the point. Because nowhere has Trump or anyone that represents him said that has anything to do with the threats.

Agree again…it’s not becoming of the office of the presidency to make those type of comments. Was Trudeau too socialist? Yes…but that is the left and far left in Canada. (Liberal and ND). |

One last word: I would (again) humbly say that you are barking up the wrong tree with these comments like "becoming of the Presidency." Those days of decorum etc are gone.
Those comments are the first part of a shakedown. He is sizing you up. In the same way that once a new convict is in the showers he gets kneed in the balls by a strongman and then watched: what's he gonna do? Is he gonna take it? will he retaliate? How much?
Trump wants water from BC, mining rights, lower prices on oil, banking access. He has enormous power over you. As I said earlier, he can ruin you, and you don't have a choice.
You guys will have to fold. And you will. No responsible govt can march off the cliff and into national ruin by resisting such leverage. There will be some 1 sided treaties, and Ottawa will be warned to be publicly nice. And they will, because you have no choice.
The multi-billion $ question is: how 1 sided? That, and the reaction thereof, is what is going to be so much fun to watch.
This was a nice show. Good comments:

Yes the US can hurt the Canadian economy…but destroy it? No….will they fold ? Perhaps, but no where on the level you are suggesting. Like it or not the US is some what dependent on certain Canadian goods…its easy to say we can make that….we can build this….that all comes with costs and time and investment industries aren’t likely to make for a one term president….it’s not like this Trump play would ever be put into place over night. Will the US ever be energy independent? They certainly have that capability, but unlike what Trump says, that would mean higher prices, for quite a few years.
Edit: You do realize…or more importantly Trump should realize that 17 US banks already do business and have access to the Canadian market… |

It's not a joke. This is how Trump negotiates. He is using a well known tactic. Look at Gaza for example. Any somewhat intelligent person will agree that we cannot go back to the way it was between Hamas and Israel, with innocent Palastinians and Israelies in the middle of it all. So Trump comes out swinging by saying, well the US will just take over the land, clean it up, and make it a nice place, while we move Palastinians out to other countries. This causes a HUGE stir that gets people's attention and brings everyone to the table, which is exactly what Trump wants, so a better solution is agreed upon. The same is going on with Canada. Trump feels that the US is being taken for over $200B a year in subsidies and wants Canada to come to the table seriously to negotiate. So by saying "hey if we have to subsidize Canada for $200B, we might as well make them a state" he comes into the negotiation hard and gets people to the table to get something done. Canada I hope will always be a sovereign nation and our friends, but the US is in terrible debt and we need to get serious about cutting spending and paying the down the debt, so hard negotiations need to take place at every level. |

Is it 100 Billion? Or is it 200Billion? What number do you and Trump want to pull out of your Azz today? And for educational purposes a 47 billion dollar trade deficet is not a subsidy…..a subsidy would be if you gave us $ for nothing….you are literally buying commodities….lol….how the Fukk is that a subsidy?
The US buys 4.5 million barrels of oil each day from Canada at a discounted rate to satisfy their need. If that only purchase was taken out the US actually would have a 65 billion dollar surplus!!!!
And if the trade deal is so bad Trump should actually blame the Azz that negotiated it in 2018!!!!

You're correct on all of this. I feel like this never would be a thing if Trudeau wasn't still PM, though. Trump clearly doesn't respect Trudeau, and I don't blame him. Weak men make hard times, and we are living through that here in Canada.

He is, for sure. He has been the biggest political disappointment since JFKjr.
I expected both to do so much. One died before he really got started, and the other just continues to fall over himself.
Regardless, Trump's comments about the 51st state, etc, and the tariffs for trade agreements he himself put into place in his first run, is just bullpoop from the president when talking about another country. |

As far as Kolosov, what is the Flyers end game? The have clearly let him dictate where he wants to play. The AHL is where be belongs and would benefit both sides.
The Flyers refusal to put him the AHL is not wise. The Flyers are the employer. He can't develop being the 3rd wheel on the Flyers. If the employee does not like it, then sever ties.
It's a situation where to me the Flyers are not handling it properly. |

I’m no fan of Trudeau ….this situation is not totally on him, but he does bear a ton of responsibility. All that said I think Trump’s whole M.O. is about finding new revenue streams to help finance the US debt. As a Canadian I do not appreciate his 51rst state comments, but learned from Trumps first 4 years that his actions are more important then what he says….its like he still thinks he needs to preform in front of the camera’s or still say shiit to shock people like when he used to go on Howard Stern.

Why they haven't assigned him to the AHL to play 50 or so games are inexcusable.
Can't see him factoring into the top2 on the Flyers next season at this juncture. In a way it is sort of a wasted season. Except Kolosov got his money. |

This whole situation has been off. I get dealing with Russian players today has some different circumstances, but I agree this kids development should have ALWAYS been been front and centre…it appears secondary. |
