Are we really bashing Canada's 9th best forward as they lead 4-0?

Just asking because I've noticed once or twice that he seems to disappear 5v5 in games like this for some reason.

Trashing Canada during big international game is a choice. Is Rare running things for them?

He's on with Hagel and Cirelli. No matter how you want to slice it - both of them have sucked so far this tournament. If they had 14 forwards on the team and not Jon Cooper as the coach, both of them would've sat by now.

Game 1: Hagel - Cirelli - Konecny was -2 and outshot 6-2.
Game 2: Hagel - Point - Cirelli was even but was still outshot 3-2

This game Hagel - Cirelli - Marner is the only line that's been outshot (3-2).

There's a common theme here and it's not Marner. But I do think Marner was a really bad fit for McDavid - they play a completely different style of hockey.

Hope swallowed it. He’s not perfect. But he’s 100 times better than what we’ve had the last 9 years.

Mitch Mac and Sid is the line..

But I doubt it’ll happen. Marner is their Swiss Army knife.

Team Canada probably wouldn’t be in the finals if not for Mitch scoring that OT goal.

Marner - 1st line with McD game 1 to the 2nd least ice time today and has been invisible.

Not great news for us Leaf fans.

There is also a common theme about the style Marner plays in games like these and the results he gets. 😉

He's nothing but an attack dog. He'll be way out of his league if he wins the election against Carney, which is not a given.

I like Marner but Marner is not a guy who plays at extreme pace. He likes to slow the play and find openings. McDavid and MacKinnon are both rush players who want to accelerate the pace. They drive the net - Marner typically acts as F1 (the high forward) to distribute pucks - neither of McDavid or MacKinnon need that guy nor use him well. They want a net driver. A guy like Hyman or Bennett or who we want Knies to be.

Marner would probably quite well with Crosby, Marchand, Stone, Point or Konecny . . . maybe even Bennett or Reinhart - but absolutely not with MacKinnon nor McDavid.

Anyone that votes for Carney is a joke. He’s just another of the elite leftists that are killing the planet. He showed up to his election announcement in a stretch Rolls Royce.

He’s already said he’ll continue the reckless spending deficits.

Swiss army knives do it all. I know you haven't noticed but there's a few holes in Mitch's 5v5 game. The Swiss army knife for that line should have been Zach Hyman, not Mitchy.

To only be outshot 3-2 in game 2 being used as a shutdown unit against the top team in the tournament seems like a success for me.

There is. We know he operates on the perimeter - but one thing that's really apparent to me is that while Marner operates on the perimeter and it's much harder to get a puck through when the defense tightens up, his real problem with the Leafs is that no one drives the net for him to get pucks to. When people finally did it - it was Edmundson. Edmundson! Where was Matthews? Were was Bertuzzi? Where were the guys who are supposed to penetrate the diamond and get in dangerous areas? Instead they were ALSO floating in the perimeter.

So I'm not saying Marner doesn't - because it's obvious he does - but a guy like that is great as long as you have some other guys who want to score enough to create some net front chaos.

I accidentally flagged this post lol..

I see your point and I agree.

Mitch can play with speedy players, just he just doesn’t skate well with them. If Mitch has a nanosecond of open ice, he’ll find Mac or Connor.. those two just like doing everything themselves
