Really we don’t know what’s going on with the politics. Most of what you hear on MSM you can’t believe. So we really don’t know what’s going on. Wait a few months and you will get a better idea what’s going on. Forget about all the noise with Trump as a Canadian and get a handle on how extremely screwed up Canada is. I think the corruption here is off the carts.

MacKinnon, Marner, McDavid, and Crosby have to produce tonight to win.

Matthews will be hard to stop.

It seems like the world is taking a giant step to the right. Maybe the left should try to figure out why that is.
- shack67

The right tells the population that the world is completely (frank)ed and promises big change. What is called the left is pretty much centrist and offers little fixes here and there. The left would entertain bugger changes but are pretty much marginalized

Speaking of bugger...

Today I was at Wal Mart and had to go to the bathroom. i walk in and there are coats hanging over both walls of the middle stall, wierd, so I am wondering WTF is going on. Unfortunately, walking out was not an option, so I go into the end stall.

I sit down and see under the middle stall, next to me, a pair of boots facing the door and a pair of feet behind them facing the same way.

My first thought was that a HB Habs fan meet-up was taking place and someone was getting Rogered, right up the Gary

Now I am panicking. I am not sure whether to barf, or cheer the guy on, or say nothing...

Then I see one "coat" taken down and it turns out it was snow pants. Then the feet step into the boots, he puts his coat on and leaves.

Turns out, it was just one guy dressed like an arctic mountain man, who completely disrobed to do his business. So, I guess the Habs fan meet up was elsewhere today.

To me it seems like the left far from being centrist. And judging by the state of the world most people seem to agree. A far right party in Germany is growing more popular every day, what could possibly go wrong.

I don't know man. I'm no genius. I don't think I'm any smarter than the average Joe of my age. I think I know a little more about meteorites and Florida vertebrate fossils than the average Joe Blow, but that's about it.

My politics are simple, pragmatic, and tend to piss both sides off eventually.

I think, for me, a good gauge of where the high ground is in politics can be determined by a simple litmus test.

I look at which side the actual Nazis, Klansmen, Skinheads, and Outlaw bikers support, and then I automatically pick the opposite side.

That doesn't mean I'm on board with everything that opposite side has in it's platform, it just means I don't side with actual Nazis.

FWIW, I don't define "Nazi" as anyone I disagree with politically. I mean actual Hitler lovers, Holocaust deniers, etc.

If you use common sense evaluating every policy you should be fine more often than not. You don't have to be left or right, especially it is almost not possible to define who is who.

I know very little about politics. Some of the boys here seem to be educated on the subject and I try to learn from them. No matter what they say you can teach an old dog new tricks.

eh

in the usa at least they've been centrist since clinton, center-right even. that's why they are so (frank)ed.

both sides of the aisle have been bailing out corpos left and right while cutting services for the people and lowering taxes for the rich in effect lowering the spending power of the average person year over year. welfare for the rich, austerity for the middle class

its cool tho

I think the pendulum is about to swing.

No matter who Donny has advising him, no matter how smart they are (absolutely not Elon because he’s a dumbass) they cannot predict how society will change. The people are a constant evolving organism. No one in the 60’s predicted the hippy movement. What’s about to transpire is impossible to know. But what we do know is that ushering in a new era of ideology/consciousness is overdue. People are really unhappy, and are yearning for something but they don’t know exactly what it is. Things have gone stagnant since social media and smartphones. There’s no new genre of rock and roll, there’s no emerging of culture and ideas. Just unhappy people addicted to things like right wing podcasts and vapes/zins. And they are all so goddamn (frank)ing stupid. Smart, but stupid.

So whatever it is that spawns from Trumps MAGA fascist coup, I hope guillotines are involved, and we finally put the rights of humanity first.

Yep. Don’t forget to argue about who’s on the Epstein list.

I do think, Trump and the tech bro’s may be hitting a new level. If you manage to break the workings of government machinery, it would take decades to put back together. In the meantime, much will have been contracted out.

We’re (they’re) pretty much on the verge of policy by algorithm.

I actually don't mind some of the theory of what they are doing (if they are doing it in good faith, and we know they aren't). If government has become bloated and wasteful a purge should be happening.

I don't give a (frank) what any LEAF fan thinks politically if we are both rooting for the Blue and White. That is room for common ground.

I'll have a whisky and cigar and blunt with you, and we'll avoid politics. There are plenty of Leafy things to argue about : Nylander versus Marner, JT's caphit, Matthews' mustache, etc.
