Only some thought so. It was so-so deal in my eyes at the time of. Some people were super upset the leafs hadn't signed a legacy player before. Now we can all see why.

It felt like an OK contract at the time, if he played at the same level he did last year, I feel like everyone would be fine with it.
His lack of consistency from year to year really is problematic.

That was my issue with it, he has shown that hes inconsistent and playing on Matthews wing forever was never gonna happen.
If the cap goes up to over $100m then it wont be too bad of a contract as that will become the norm for lower players like him. |
