there is actually hope....when you look at games remaining difficulty

Habs have one of the easiest schedule left. (With Ottawa and Boston). Habs have 2 games left against Ottawa also

On the opposite side, hardest schedule

Detroit, NYR (Fox out of many weeks), CLBS, NYI ....all the the top 6 for most challenging schedule

Playoffs would be a bonus but it’s not impossible

I loved shopping at used CD places... usually holes int he wall, dark-ish vast rooms of albums, music mostly not sorted at all, so you had to go look CD bin by CD bin.

Sometimes I'd just buy one because of the album cover or heard from someone that someone else said this might be good.

And then actually getting home and finding out you got something really good!

The 90s seem so long ago...

LOL.

Last time I looked, they were as equally close to a WC playoff spot as a top 5 pick. They might have an easier schedule, and I think they likely remain in the thick of the playoff race, but another 3-4 game losing streak and they are looking at a top 5 pick.

the tunes i had near the town i grew up in was great too. at one point they had a whole section of wall dedicated to radiohead singles and b-sides and stuff. they also had great band t-shirts and posters.

but yeah, i feel the same way. it was great finding a CD from a band someone told you about and running it home to see if you like it. checking out the liner notes and art and lyrics and all.

I was still making mixtapes back then, in University.

Such a lost art given the the immediacy of playlists now.... don't have to worry about perfectly fitting songs to one side, then the other, in a sequence that made the whole thing sound great.

(frank) I miss that... so many hours just listening, arranging, perfecting, and writing out the playlist on the cassette sleeve.

I remember when I was a kid (5-6yrs old), my grandpa drove a station wagon with the lovely wood panels on the side, we used to have 8 tracks to play music.

I am not as old as Pete, his grandpa had a gramophone in the car to play music in his Ford model T

Yeah, I grew up listening to 8-track cassettes - mostly old country like Eddie Arnold, Charlie Pride, Roger Miller and the like.

We also had the Grease sountrack and something called Goofy Greats (and another similar one) with songs like "Monster Mash" and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie (Polka Dot Bikini)" and "The Name Game" - those crazy 60s/70s pop songs.

yes! making sure you liked the order of the songs and all.

i once made a bunch of mix CD (CDs by then) called "songs to crash your car to" because they were songs that made you drive fast (iirc, 9 cult songs and mother by danzig at the very end). i gave them to my friends and they all loved it. nobody actually crashed their car, which was nice.

Habs have 24 games left. They currently have 59pts. Usually, to get into the playoffs...team need what....92 or 93pts?

The Habs would need to get another 34pts in 24 games.
