What if the Canucks end up paying over 11 million dollars to a 3rd line player for the next 7 years.
A rising cap is not good asset management, which you've used when pressed.

- Marwood

I think that's an unlikely scenario, but still realistic. A decision they're going to have to make, hopefully it's the right one.

I tend to believe he's going to become a good offensive player again, but that's just me. I don't typically make emotional decisions.

Management is now in a tough spot, having to make this decision. It isn't like a Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, Desharnais, Heinen type of mistake, this is a franchise altering decision. Hopefully they make the right decision.

They’re saying ticket prices rivalling the superbowl. I guess a little controversy with anthems fuels some interest.
- TurdFergeson

They're wrong.

Tickets still available for $1200, that's nowhere near Super Bowl territory.

I don't think it's as big a deal as you and the other screaming white female liberals have made it out to be. It's not like he's contributing nothing to the team, he's still second in ATOI for forwards on the Canucks and playing well, sans the offense.

I used Bobrovsky as an example the other day, teams can still find success with a guy who's deemed to be overpaid on their roster. Everyone was screaming how bad Bob was and how much wasted cap space he was taking up, and then he played extremely well in the playoffs and lead the Panthers to a Stanley Cup.

There's too much focus on one guy, Petey, the team needs to address a lot of areas if they're going to get to a better place. He's just one guy and he's not God awful. But yes, he's paid too much. Even if he's nothing more than an 82 point guy he's still overpaid, but that's not his fault. I'd be perfectly happy with an 82 point center, or two of them!! (Chytil)

I think that's about how much it costs to play the Stadium course at TPC Scottsdale right now. Where else could you have as much fun for four hours though?

You just can’t reason with people like Lefty. He worships Pouty and is probably the biggest Peterson Stan I’ve encountered. He will still be defending the kid years after we are forced to buyout his contract. But JT Miller. But linemates. But knee ouchy. But floods. But mean media and bad ice. The EP Stans have limitless excuses.

Perhaps normal fans should just concede.

EP 40 is amazing and is a perennial 100 point selke calibre 1C. Anyone that disagrees is an idiot and doesn’t understand the severity of his knee twisty

They said a few available at $1200 but the majority are between $2-4000. Which is Super Bowl level.

There's no reasoning to be done, it's not up to any of us. And clearly I've said I'm ok either way. I just tend to believe he'll be better next season.

And you've gotta admit, the floods were pretty bad.

Agreed about the floods. Imagine the mental impact floods could have on a young Scandinavian fashion diva/ gamer

It should be a great game if everyone is healthy. It'll could be the most watched non-NHL playoff game in history, that's how popular it is down here. The NHL may be onto something. Everyone around Ohio and Arizona are talking about it, the Americans are really into it, which is good to see!

I saw Keegan Bradley on the PGA Tour with his team USA jersey on walking in to play golf last week, I wasn't even aware he's a hockey fan.

It's fashionable at the moment because it made some news at the right time down there. It'll die out as quickly as they lose. There are a few nice pockets of die hard fans. Mostly in the northern states. But let's face it most Americans, like yourself, are the biggest whoriest bandwagoners on the planet. The sport isn't ingrained in their culture like it is up here.

look man, the cheapest ticket for the SB was $3K and there are multiple tickets available for around 40% of that price.

Spin it any way you want, the price isn't nearly the same.

There's reasons for that, hockey is pretty much the only game in town up there for pro sports, whereas there's multiple other sports to choose from down here. Football is truly the American passion though, even the women talk football down here.

Dude I moved to the USA full time when I was 55 years old, four years ago, hockey is engrained in my blood as a born and raised Canadian. I do like to play-up the Canada vs USA thing on here though as it makes for some good back-and-forth.

Dhaliwal shared the news on X:

“The Canucks were very aggressive in the first week of January, trying to sign Lankinen. They made what sources say, a very solid offer, term and money. Some say the offer was over $3 million a year. It was rejected. At that time, agent Todd Diamond wanted to see what the salary cap would be this summer. He’s got that number.

“Here’s some contracts I want you to look at. Logan Thompson, $5.8 million a year, Mackenzie Blackwood, $5.2 [million], Joey decor, $5.2 [million], Ukko-Pekka Lukkonnen, $4.7 [million]. Where does Lankinen belong in that group? I’m saying that there’s been some goalie sign this year that have changed the goalie market. Outside of Blackwood, all have similar games played experience.

“Here’s the key [Thatcher] Demko, four injuries in a year. The Canucks cannot go cheap with the backup goalie position next year, Donnie, they got to spend money. They’re clearly going to have to go outside of their comfort zone to sign Lankinen.

“But I get the Canucks credit here. January 1 was when you could sign Lankinen. They got to him right away and made a good offer.

“But I will say this, the Canucks absolutely love Lankinen. He is well liked with his teammates, Rick Tocchet loves him. The goalie coach [Marko Torenius] is his goalie coach in Finland. So everything fits. Everything fits in Vancouver, for Lankin, but it looks like, right now, there’s a gap in the money.”

Lankinen signed with the Canucks late into September, inking a one-year $875,000 contract. The undrafted netminder has enjoyed his best season as a professional in Vancouver, holding a 19-8-7 record with a 2.53 goals against average (GAA) and a .905 save percentage (S%), adding four shutouts
