For a guy who takes so much heat for being selfish, greedy etc & in the league goal scoring race he sure just did the unselfish thing.
Leafs are so lucky to have Willy, Matthews, & Marner.

Assuming the Four Nations is here to say, it'll be interesting to see how much of a positive impact it has on the league to get a good long rest at this point in the season.
Guys can heal up, teams can better assess what they have going into the deadline too. - gravyface
The Russian players benefit from rest and the extra motivation of being excluded from a best on best tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if the elite Russian players have a strong stretch run. |

Everyone in the NHL are pro athletes..
I doubt there’s been any more or less improvement based on whether or not you played in the 4 nations. |

They won't be excluded for long. Your president is currently busy bending over for the Russian dictator. Mr. "great deal" President is about to give Putin everything he asked for and then some.
Hey Uggie, answer me this: where is the "Big Ask" from Trump to Vladimir Putin?? |

That occurred years ago, after Trump lost a billion dollars in the 80s. He went to the world's richest man, Putin. |

Ukraine was never gonna win without nato boots on the ground and that was never gonna happen.
Now they’re almost out of fighting men so their position in this stalemate is at its weakest.🤦♂️

So that justifies supporting Putin and extorting Ukraine by demanding their resources as payment for support? By that reasoning, the US should have supported the Nazis who were in a stronger position in WW2 and then demanded payback from the Brits for their support.
Russia may be winning but they have been stretched thin. Putin still wants all of Ukraine or at the least to see it become nothing more than a buffer zone between Russia and the west. He’ll be back unless you trust Trump’s “ security guarantees” which would be the ultimate firm of wishful thinking |

"Pencil neck big hat" argument from you here.
Why don't you explain Trump's ask for 500 BN of rare earth minerals from Ukraine now?
I'll repeat - where's the big ask of Putin?

Do you think if the Leafs traded away Matthews, Marner and Nylander for a 6th round pick then fired the GM the next day, it would then be reasonable to expect the new GM to get McDavid for a 7th round pick?
Because that's what happened here since you're not too keen on the facts. Maybe you're getting your facts from MSNBC. Or The View.
No, sorry, your President (the brain dead one who let the country be run by the previous Obama admin in the shadows) gave Putin everything he could ask for long before Trump took back control. They destabilized Ukraine by overthrowing their democratically elected government in 2014 through USAID and State Department funding and meddling. Don't forget the "10% for the big guy" from Burisma through Hunter and threatening to withhold a billion dollars of USAID loan guarantees to get the prosecutor investigating Burisma fired. Pretty sure Russia took Crimea under Obama too. Whoopsie.
Oh, right, you're another sucker who buys the lies so the military industrial complex can continue to endlessly print money to fund and escalate the war, put boots on the ground and spend another 8 trillion dollars over 20 years like they did in Afghanistan and Iraq, right? That sounds like the plan from the bleeding heart compassionate liberal left now? Endlessly funding foreign wars + Ukraine flag filters on social media to support another wave of other people's children dying?
Yeah, sorry bud, ending the war is the "Big Ask" considering the disaster that was left behind by the previous abomination of an administration. We can all get back to wasting less money and losing less lives. If the EU, UN and NATO are truly worried about Putin being "the next Hitler", maybe they can start paying for it themselves instead of expecting the US to continue dumping money into what even the New York Times called the most corrupt country in Europe.
I don't like Putin, he's an authoritarian and a war criminal. That doesn't mean Canada and the US have to dump an untold number of dollars and potentially lives into what is an EU problem without anything except a massive debt in return. It's an unsustainable solution and it's one that Putin found a way around despite every sanction known to man. If the EU wants to protect themselves, they should start acting like it. Start paying for more than <1% GDP and stop pretending like the USA is going to do it for them. |

Exactly.
Unfortunately, NATO itself has created a WW1 type scenario where if one country gets attacked, you have a cascade of events that creates WW3. It's an outdated, bad strategy to deal with the current problems. |

The US government and US companies did support the Nazis in some ways. Ford, General Motors, IT&T, Eastman Kodak, Standard Oil, Singer, International Harvester, Gillette, Coca-Cola, Kraft, Westinghouse, and United Fruit.
They funded and manufactured for both sides before the war started and created tremendous profit from it. Once they were attacked, they joined one side and helped defeat the other. They also brought in former Nazi scientists to help build the atomic bomb and through Operation Paperclip, created NASA.
The US economy before and after WW2 are night and day. They generated a tremendous amount of wealth because of it. They didn't put themselves 36.5 trillion dollars in debt to get nothing out of it like they are today.
And yes, Britain did pay back the USA. Britain paid $7.5 billion to the US in 50 installments. A quick Google search can find that: On 31 December 2006, Britain made a final payment of about $83m (£45.5m) to the US and about $23.6m to Canada.
Russia may be winning but they have been stretched thin. Putin still wants all of Ukraine or at the least to see it become nothing more than a buffer zone between Russia and the west. He’ll be back unless you trust Trump’s “ security guarantees” which would be the ultimate firm of wishful thinking
Russia has won the territory. It's over. And a sizable amount of people in those regions welcome it. Taking it back at this point is far too costly for everybody involved. You want to spend another 8 trillion and 20 years like in Afghanistan and Iraq? Of course you do, you believe in unlimited government money printing while other people do the dying.
Part of the "security guarantee" is putting US refineries in Ukraine for the rare earth minerals deal. It's a soft power move to put something of US interest and value near the Russian border to deter future invasions. It's not quite a military base but it's something that can't be attacked without creating a larger response from NATO.

By that logic, he'd love Zelenskyy too. State controlled media, corruption, oligarchs, no elections...just like the left hates billionaires...but not the ones who fund the right NGOs and vote the right way. |
