They see Glass as a part of the future. He will come cheaper with the next contract. I think they want him as the 3rd line guy.

The Seth Jones idea is because Sullivan wants him. Which is where the interest is coming from.

I would believe if they brought in Jones it would mean an aggressive offseason to try to get back in the playoffs.

I don't dislike Glass, but I don't really see it with him. We already have about 4 4th liners under contract for next year. I like him better than some of them but it's just getting redundant. I haven't seen anything that makes me think he can lead a productive 3rd line, but I might be the one missing something.

I'm just glad that Dubas isn't being given a pass by the media and people are calling him out. Might force his hand into win now mode again.

If Pitt won the lottery and got bumped to 1st overall who are you guys taking?

Use Rick Dudley math and spend our 7th round pick on Gavin McKenna.

Meh on Glass. He isn't terrible, but if DOC was an offensive hole, then what is 2 ES goals in 46 games despite being on the second line for around a couple months?

Jones is similar to Karlsson with three more years on his deal. Makes no sense to me from either the team or players perspective. IDK if Sully interest is enough to overcome that.

Appreciate the insights, just not a fan of these potential moves.

No problem. I agree with you. I'm not a fan of Jones nor Glass. I would have to see the move before I dislike it. Like if we did a 3 team deal and we retained 2 million on Karlsson and was able to unload Graves or Jarry, and Chicago gave us Jones with 2-3 million retained I would take the deal. I would also hope that we bring in another higher end Defender in the offseason

He's getting a little heat in Pittsburgh.....not a lot yet. The last several months I've heard the discussion about most of his "additions" haven't worked. I think most people recognize they were done contending regardless of his signings.

I could see Dubas getting into the Marner sweeps because that helps them long term. I don't believe they'll try to "win now"....as in next year. I don't see how they can supplement the roster sufficiently even if a couple of the kids provide help. 2026 at best.

I think Subban ripping him so badly is going to open the flood gates on Dubas. Because now all of the talking heads are getting asked about it.

He did well with the Pettersson trade. I think everyone will now sit back and see what he does at the deadline. I don't think his job is at risk, but I think he has an ego and cares what is said about him in the media.

I think you can sell Pittsburgh to Marner (with a big money offer of course). Potential opportunity to be handed the C and take the reins from Crosby would be pretty appealing.

He has a lot of work to do, no doubt. We need two very good top 6 players, a good 3C, a great 1LD and some kind of solution in net. But it all starts with a strong deadline... Where he has to stop taking back 4th liners with term!

Agree 2026 is probably the true target. Got a few contracts that we took on coming off. Though sadly also Malkin's last year. But that doesn't mean they can't try to make a long-term addition or two this offseason. I just look at that group with Murashov, McGroarty, Koivunen, Pickering, and Broz and while besides maybe Murashov I don't see any stars, you can potentially fill a lot of key roles on rookie deals. Add a free agent or two and get a high pick in the pipeline and maybe you've got something.

The organization needs to look at what kind of people they are drafting. Is this person willing to change their game to become an efffective NHL player if they need to? Also they really need to get someone they see as Sullivans replacement in Wilks. Someone who will help players make that adjustment. For instance this Mcgroarty kid doesn’t strike me as knuckles to the grindstone to make the NHL.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I think that's been a big culture shift this year in WBS due to the depth of talent they have. They've seen their top forwards: Puustinen, Nylander, Poulin, not be able to stick and clear waivers. They have probably 10-11 forwards that thought they'd definitely make the NHL and realize they are fighting for ice time in the AHL.

Guys like Ponomarov and Koivunen have gotten scrapper. McGroarty has embraced being a top PKer. Pouring has been fighting more and it's clicked in he's going to have to make it as a fourth line guy. Bennstrom has gotten away from playing perimeter hockey.

On McGroarty specifically, it's always an adjustment when you go from running over kids your own age to playing against grown men. He's adjusted though, playing much better.

All these guys won't make it, but I think the competition in WBS at forwards is bringing about a bigger appetite to change games. Because if they don't, they realize the guy next to them will take their spot.
