Well...he did have a 101 points on the Sharks whom were 29th overall that season with a -87 goal differential...
...he is actually asked to play D in Pittsburgh though, I guess.
I will also add that 56 points for a Dman in a season is pretty damn good. 10 million good? not quite but close...more like 7.5/8 per material hahah

The SJ situation is a bit different. Ironically, he was probably playing with higher quality linemates there than he has got a chance to in Pittsburgh.
Fact is, he is good for .5PPG at even strength no matter what, that season in SJ he was above .9PPH at ES. Thats really good.
This is why I keep looking at Ottawa... they have no RD that can produce offence period, and even Sanderson, their highest scoring D only gets it done on the PP. He has like 15 ES points and Karlsson is outscoring him by a bit.
Ottawa cant score, they should have been jumping all over the Karlsson reunion... now they are going to just spoil a great opportunity for themselves and miss the playoffs.
Same situation with Carolina. They have a great forward group but their D still don't produce a lot. They always struggle to score in the playoffs... why wouldnt they add Karlsson to give themselves that bump.
I'd say Toronto but there isnt a real viable cap path for Karlsson there.
The absolute best fit is Florida. They have a great all around team, but their D has no offensive pulse outside of Ekblad, and Karlsson has way more offence to his game than him. They have a well rounded enough team to cover for any of Karlssons defensive inadequacies.
I think there should be a strong market for Karlsson. We shouldnt have to retain, though we would likely take back some suboptimal salary. But I'm actually perfectly happy keeping Karlsson IF we actually try to field a competitive team next season.
