Long and short is we will probably need to move on from Pettersson and Boeser at this point. Issue is will MNGT provide Hughes the team he needs to win here? Hughes is literally a top 10 player in the league now and need to keep the guy happy and wanting to stay. - LordHumungous
Hughes is top 5 in the league.
The only names that you could argue are better would be Makar(dead even IMO) Mackinnon, Draisatl and McDavid. |

I don't think he'll be traded, but if he is, it'll be for another guy who's struggling, like Mason McTavish. There's always a GM out there looking to make a deal and there's always players out there who are struggling.
Petey's salary is the big caveat but with a rising cap, if you read hockey news, teams are ready, willing, and able to spend going forward. Someone will take a chance on him, He's only 26. - Pacificgem
You Crack me up with your hickey IQ, or lack thereof. Comparing a player who just turned 22 and coming off an ELC, to a player who is/was adored by the dumbest hockey fans in the world, making 11.6 per.
Any GM who would trade for Pouty is dumber than most Canucks fans. |

Not entirely accurate. Remember how the Canucks missed the playoffs for a decade? At least they're in a wildcard spot with absolutely everything going wrong |

Hughes has been unquestionably better than Makar for 2 years now. He's top 3 on a good day, top 4 at worst. |

It's just an example of another young player who's struggling, and it wouldn't be a one-for-one deal in that case, clearly, but I know everything has to be explained to you like you're six years old.
There's cap to be considered, there's organizational depth to be considered, there's many things to consider when asking why a team would make a deal for a guy who's struggling.
But rest assured, when a young guy like Petey scores 102 points at 24 and he's the 9th fastest active player to reach 400 NHL points, along with all the side-show organizational crap that's gone on in Vancouver, someone will say we can fix that kid.....guaranteed. |

One has to wonder what the Canucks would look like if they traded Miller instead of Bo. Not that Bo is the better player, but the complete fallout and drama since then... probably could have got a very similar return and still gotten Hronek. |

Sure hope they realize they need to be sellers - Reubenkincade
I'm pretty sure they know they need to be sellers, it's just hard when your hands are tied. |

Reuby loves McTavish so he thinks he's worth more than EP40, if they were making the same amount of money, EP40 is actually currently worth more than McTavish. Petey's struggling but even with his struggles he's still better than McTavish. Who I like as well.
Rumblings in Anaheim they're not happy with their progress despite all these good draft picks, they may make a deal with one of them to try and progress things. Just speculation. They also have 16 million in cap space. As I said to the six year old, lots of thing to consider when a team makes a deal like that. |

Ya, not sure why Lefty used him as an example, Dylan Cozens would have been a better example, but Lefty isn't the sharpest tool in the shed |

You're right, that is a better example, I just had McTavish on my brain because I'm reading about Anaheim and the fact the Ducks would entertain moving him as he's been a disappointment.
Also, just because you like him, doesn't make him more valuable. Teams potentially trading for McTavish will ask the same questions that are being asked of Petey, why is a 3rd overall pick with a good tool kit struggling so much in his third season. At this point he's a diminishing asset.
Petey on the other hand, has proven he's very capable of already being what Anaheim hopes McTavish will one day be...that's why teams with a ton of cap will take a chance on Petey. Despite his salary. |

I didn't think it was possible but I think you might cheer for the same amount of teams as Lefty. That's kinda embarrassing. |

When the team you start cheering for since 1970, has sucked, it makes it easier to cheer for some teams with players I actually like |

This. There’s a very good reason you rarely see players this good move. |
