Retaining for 5 years? I mean, (frank)ing hell. 2.5 in dead cap every year and you would imagine their magic bean young guys will want their Core-4 deals in the next few years. They better hope the cap goes right up.

I’ve only been to Columbus once. But it was fun. Which is something I can’t say about Toronto. Been over 50 times and it’s always a bore.

Not sure but it makes them harder to beat in the playoffs.

Guess if the Leafs stand pat they hope a different team knocks them out first.

Trade deadline might be boring again this year. Looks like deals are going to start popping off as teams don't want to miss out.

Doubt it ...it means FLA are loading up.

Well first step is the leafs making the playoffs and they are at least the most consistent team in the NHL currently at that. All bets are off once they get to the first round though!

For the Leafs to get out of the division, they need to finish first. Let the two Florida teams kill each other for 7 games, and win your series in 5. To finish 2nd or 3rd, it would take a 7 game series to possibly beat one of the Florida teams, then you'd be half dead trying to take out the other. It's an imperative to get to first place this year.

Agreed. I'd rather Montour for the same money and keep those assets. No offense to Jones. It does make Florida better, but only because Montour is gone.

They didn't have the space for him last summer. Also, Knight didn't have the value last summer that he has now (ie. he was probably untradeable).

They accrued just enough space this year to add Jones now. They're belly-up against the Cap now.

It sounds like Calle Järnkrok will rejoin the #leafs lineup tomorrow night for the first time all season. Could wind up being like a trade deadline addition for them now that he's back to health.
