He has been a 5M D man this year.

Last year he was decent, a solid D.

He has revamped his game he looks good. But yeah if I am Toronto I am telling Philly a year and a half of solid play doesn't totally take away the years of poop. So they would need some retention.

Jeez, that guy is 6'4", 215lbs?!?! I'd do Minten, Bobby (that would hurt) and a second, but only if there is an almost 100% chance you can resign him for under $13M. Opens up the possibility of moving on from Marner if he disappears in the playoffs.

Don't feel like looking at comparables but the first that popped into my head was Hossa.

1st, prospect(20th overall) prospect(3rd rounder) and Colby Armstrong who is a strong comparable to McMann.

1st, Cowan, Niemela, McMann. Would be similar value to Hossa trade.

Pens also got Dupuis in return so take that for what it is.

This should be the response to FLA putting Takchuk on LTIR, but it won't happen and we will watch the Panthers add some big pieces while the Leafs tinker with minor moves. Sigh.

I think what it would do is give you a very competitive run at the cup this year and also gives you the advantage of being able to give either player 8 years so you can go into next year knowing you will retain a superstar and even gain some negotiating power with Mitch.

It is a pipe dream but not impossible. For me it would be the best case scenerio this TDL but I will not expect it.
