The Islanders have to be a team that uses the draft smart signing and trades to build the team. As long as they fight this, they will be nothing but a mid-team. They are just not going to be on the radar of top UFA's. The team needs a new GM, Scouting, and development staff and they have to care about the farm team. Lou made a comment he does not care about Bridgeport. What GM says these things?

If not for Barry's brilliant coaching, Lou's Islander run would be really bad. Lou did nothing to fix the scouting and player development. All he did was lock up bottom pair players to lousy contracts and make coaching changes. He probably does not have the stamina to go out and make real changes and falls in love with his players. Lou has not been much better than Garth Snow in terms of the roster.

Yeah, Lou really needs to step down after this season. Isn't his son (or great grandson) an assistant GM?

Sorokin is a solid goalie, but Lou probably still has delusions of Uncle Daddy winning games by one goal. The game has passed him by and he needs to go. Do you think Patrik would be a good GM?

Lou has always struggled during the Cap era. He has no clue this is a speed and skill league now and you cannot just rely on the goalie or the coach to win. You also cannot lock up average type players to long deals. I think Patrick could do well as GM. I just want a new GM. If that means a different GM not Lou's son and the new GM wants his own coach and not Patrick, so be it.

I want Nelson and Palms traded. Would love to move Lee and JGP as well. I would worry about moving Dobson and especially for Petterson and what may have happened with Miller.
