Most people don't understand that the U.S. already has dibs on the protection of Canada. It was signed in 1940, when Canada was in WW2 and the U.S. was not. The Commonwealth decided to let the American's have the right to protect Canada in the Ogdensburg Accords. It's why we have the DEW line, NORAD, U.S. base in Gander, Newfoundland and they patrol the Arctic Ocean in Canadian waters with their ships and submarines. It's why the Avro Arrow was shut down in 1959 and the Alaska highway was built in Canada in 1942. 90% of all Canadians live within 100 miles of the U.S. border. Take Edmonton and St. Johns out of the equation, hardly no-one live in the rest of Canada. Yeah, the U.S. controls Canada.
