If the offer was a 4th I would have kept him too. Worth more to the team/room down the stretch here than some kid maybe playing in 4 years - NewYorkNuck
Sure maybe he was worth more as a mentor, until you call him out in the media saying he's basically worthless. Dangerous game imho. Maybe you get a motivated guy for 20 games, but more likely you get a guy that coasts out the rest of the year and has agent explain to the wild or new team that he'll be super motivated to make Canucks eat it next year. Not like anyone will notice the prince coasting it out with all the attention on the richest pettersson.

I think TSN was flattering us with a C- deadline rating. An absolute joke from ownership and management. - claygolf83
The only reason i can think it's not lower is we held onto our 2025 picks (so far)

Historic high prices so let's holdddddd.
In all honesty either the owner wouldn't let them trade Boeser cause he wants a round of playoff money or teams offered them nothing because they don't think he's worth anywhere near his ask (which is true) |

Idk about all of that. I don’t see Brock as a moper he’s loyal & an honest guy. He will get over it & if anything be a pro & I wouldn’t be surprised if his teammates pick him up. He’s due a lil puck luck & a few PP goals would do him wonders. |

No it was in the parkade of Rogers. I suspect he got bad news on his injury or something. - CanuckDon
Your suspicions drawn from whatever encounters you have or not with players don’t have a history of accuracy. I’ve teased you about it for years, but I’m just playing. It’s fine to know guys, but pretending this insider knowledge seems fairly false. Just my opinion. |

If you’re going to accuse somebody it’s for you to provide the evidence. |

Alvin did look wiped and frustrated. Maybe had something bigger in the hopper with Petey and didn't pan out. Then just got caught being a little too honest about Boeser. |

I hear things once in awhile. Don’t blame you for not believing a stranger on the internet. All good, I don’t care. We all cheer for a team with a bleak future |

Must be hard for all the turncoats to keep track of which team they support.
Most of the time they put down the 'fanboys, slupers or stans' and threaten to quit.
And then they're the ones most upset with Vancouver's moves.
I feel bad for them. |

So the return for Marchand was...
Conditional second-round pick (2027)
Retain 50% of Marchand's contract

Been hearing that from the last 2 management groups, as well as the fans for a decade now. This group is at least 5 years away from being a contender, if they can start capitalizing on more of their picks. |

A bit better than what Canucks got for Boeser |

How does Beauvillier get the same return as Marchand but without retention? |

There were a lot of UFA’s who didn’t get traded, Blackhawks didn’t trade Donato because they put a high price on him, because they value him. And they’re rebuilding. Canuck fans and media just cry a lot about everything.
I’m just of the opinion they can’t be successful under Aquilini’s ownership. |

Because everyone looks at things like all deals are a flat line, they aren’t. Cap, player trade clauses, team situation (contending/rebuilding), etc all play into deals. |

Because Marchand is signing back with the Bruins and they all know it. |

He also had a 10 team trade clause, Florida was at the top of it. They didn’t need to pay a lot for him as there wasn’t much competition. |
