Nothing that happens today will change anything unless Matthews, marner, jt and Reilly step up in the playoffs. In the past 8 years, they've dominated one playoff round.

But if they overpay today, overpay on quality big Dman with term.

He's declining. Production down. I get there's more to his play than just the points but when you're trying to find a player to help you win in the playoffs and add additional scoring...getting a guy with 11 goals in 70 something playoff games can't possibly be the answer. That and his contract going forward won't age well.

Who is available that is realistically going to make that happen? There's no one. Wasting their blue chip pieces just for the sake of making a deal is dumb. Add some depth, imo.

I've never really been bothered by the opponents. When you get handed junk teams like Columbus and Montreal in the first round and lose, thinking playing anyone other than Flo or TBay will be easier is fools gold. Whoever they play, if the Leafs don't step up, they'll lose especially if avoiding those teams gives reason for people to think, it would be easy

I might be in the minority, but I'm not convinced about Rantanen's fit with CAR, as least in terms of point production & how he's historically created offense.

While I do agree with this, if we're ever going to go deep in the playoffs we have to start knocking down the real cup contenders, instead of losing to the pretenders.

There is no deal between Dallas and Carolina for Mikko Rantanen. It appears Carolina may have to go back to the drawing board. Doesn’t mean a deal/extension with Dallas can’t materialize, but it’s not there as of now.

I mentioned dallas last night, but looks like its on hold. Cant come to an agreement on contract
