Might be the only one who doesn't want to just dump Domi. If he can stay out of the box he's one of the few guys we have that can provide some toughness and push back. I liked his game last playoffs.

Pettersson looks like the perfect fit on the Leafs; tons of talent but zero caresi. That contract looks real ugly this year.

Ya. Why would van trade their best player with a long term contract (who's gone through a rough year) for a slightly overpaid 3rd liner, and a $7.5m dman who's been absolutely horrible the past several years....outside of one round of playoffs two years ago.

Tampa can wheel and deal right now because they are playing with house money, they've won 2 cups and have been to the finals 3 times recently. So if they blow all their 1st and prospects and fail...who cares.
The leafs have already blown a lot of their picks and prospects and haven't achieved anything. They've essentially wasted the past 8 years. Now is this Shanny's fault? The GM's, coaches or players?
Probably on the GM's, coaches and players. The players haven't met expectation in the playoffs, they continually fail. They had layups against Cbus and Montreal and choked. Previous GM blew his load most years at the deadline which has handcuffed Tre recently. Which I think is the main issue, they just dont have the capital and leeway to play with. Not a lot room for error.

Fair points, but the front office had this same mindset before the cups. I think the lucky part for Tampa was drafting Stamkos and Hedman, which happened prior to Stevie Y and Briesbois. And then turning Kyle (frank)ing Quincy into Vasilevskiy was lucky beyond words.

The reality pitch is a hugely overpaid guy who doesn't give a poop with a long-term contract that fits like cement overshoes (I never liked the guy )
